Twenty-five years ago, you could walk out your front door and disappear. You could drive across town without a single camera tracking your number plate, pay for groceries in cash without a record of what you bought, meet a friend for coffee without a phone in your pocket pinging your location to a server farm in Virginia. You could write a letter that only the recipient would read. You could call your mother without an algorithm cataloguing the call. You could think a thought, voice it to a friend, and have it stay between the two of you. The walls of your home were the walls of your life, and what happened inside them was nobody’s business but your own.

Privacy, then, was not a privilege. It was the default. You had to actively give up your information for someone to have it, and most of the time, no one was asking. You were a person - not a profile, not a data point, not a packet of behavioural signals being bundled and sold to the highest bidder before you’d finished your morning coffee. You were yourself, and you belonged to yourself, and the unseen architecture of modern life had not yet been built around the harvesting of you.

Now, in 2026, every one of those small daily freedoms is gone. The car you drive is photographed dozens of times between your driveway and your office. The card you tap for coffee logs not just the purchase but the time, the location, the pattern of your week. The phone in your pocket is a confession booth that never stops listening. The watch on your wrist measures your heart, your sleep, your steps, your stress, and reports back to companies whose names you’d struggle to list. The doorbell at your front door films everyone who approaches it. The television in your living room watches you back. Every search you make, every message you send, every place you go, every face you pass, every word you speak near a microphone is being captured, stored, indexed, and added to a picture of you that grows more detailed every day.

We have lived through the most radical erosion of human privacy in recorded history, and we did it inside a single generation. A child born in the year 2000 has come of age in a world where the surveillance of every waking moment is so total it’s no longer remarkable. The watching has been normalised, the harvesting has been monetised, the data has become the product, and we - without ever quite agreeing to it - have become the resource being mined.

What is more astonishing still is who is doing the mining. We were warned, throughout the twentieth century, about the dangers of an overreaching government - the nightmare of a state that watched its citizens too closely, knew them too well, controlled them too completely. What we were not warned about, because no one foresaw it, is that the watchers in the twenty-first century would not primarily be governments at all, but private companies; a handful of them, operating across borders, accountable to no electorate, answerable to no constitution, governed by the whims of a small group of men whose wealth now exceeds the GDP of most nations on Earth.

These men know more about us than any government in history has ever known about its citizens. They know what we read, what we watch, who we love, who we fear, what we believe, what we buy, where we go, how we sleep, what we eat, and what we are likely to do next. They hold the secrets of billions of people, and as anyone who has ever read a fairy tale or studied an empire knows: he who holds the secrets holds the keys to the world.

So who are these men? Who are the tech bros who have quietly accumulated more power over the inner lives of more people than any pharaoh, emperor, or king who ever lived? What do they want? What are they building? And what happens when the power they hold collides with the changing sky overhead - the sky that has already written the ending of the era that made them?

We are living at the pinnacle of the surveillance age, and while it may feel like the walls are closing in, the sky says otherwise. The men who built Silicon Valley's seeing stones are about to learn what every holder of a palantír eventually learns: the stone always destroys the one who thinks he holds it.

The reckoning is upon us. And the sky is on our side.

What the Seeing Stone Sees

In 2001, after the planes struck the twin towers on September 11, it became clear that America’s various disparate intelligence agencies had each held fragments of information that could have surfaced the plot, but because they couldn’t share data across their own walls, no one body could piece together the intelligence puzzle. The CIA had pieces, and the NSA had pieces, and the FBI had pieces, but none of the pieces talked to each other.

Silicon Valley entrepreneur Peter Thiel looked at that problem and envisaged a software solution not unlike the one his company, PayPal, had designed to scan transactions for suspicious patterns and flag them in real time - software so effective the FBI asked PayPal if they could have a version. Thiel now imagined something similar, but for intelligence; a platform that could ingest every dataset from every agency and fuse them into one searchable picture. That became the founding pitch for Palantir Technologies, the company Thiel founded in 2003 on a mission to prevent the next 9/11.

Thiel pulled together a founding team and started coding in a small Palo Alto office, but no investors would touch them. Venture capitalists could not see the business potential, so Thiel ended up putting in $30 million of his own PayPal money to keep the company alive. But their fortunes changed in 2005 when the CIA’s venture-capital arm, In-Q-Tel, stepped in and invested roughly $2 million. Suddenly every three-letter agency in Washington wanted a meeting, and Palantir rapidly went from being a fledgling startup to a piece of state infrastructure.

By 2008 the CIA was a paying customer, and by 2010 the FBI, the Marine Corps, and the Department of Defense had followed. By 2011 Palantir was reportedly helping track Osama bin Laden. By 2013 it was inside ICE. The company grew up on counter-terrorism money under Bush and Obama, became indispensable during the Trump-era immigration crackdown, and exploded under Trump’s second term into what it is today - a $350 billion software company with active contracts in nearly every arm of the United States federal government that now operates as the connective tissue of the modern American surveillance state.

The company is named after the palantíri - the seeing stones in The Lord of the Rings that let their holders watch across any distance, anywhere. And that, in essence is exactly what Palantir’s technology does.

An organisation uses Palantir when its data is a mess - different systems that don’t talk to each other, records scattered across departments, information that no one person can see all at once. Palantir’s software merges everything into a single unified database - every record, transaction, person, movement, and pattern, all pulled into one place and made searchable - that gives organisations the ability to zoom from a continent down to a single human being in under a second, and to zoom back out again to see them as a pattern inside a population.

What Palantir sells, fundamentally, is a way of seeing; a god’s-eye view of an entire organisation, government, or country, and every individual inside it.

ICE uses it to flag immigrants for deportation by pulling together their tax records, Social Security data, license plate reads, and medical visits into a single profile, in real time. The LAPD uses it for predictive policing, to decide which neighbourhoods to saturate with officers before a crime has been committed. The IRS is reportedly using it to build a single searchable database of every American’s tax filings, which two members of Congress have called flatly illegal.

But it’s not just the government using Palantir’s software. Walmart - the largest retailer in the world, with 10,500 stores across 19 countries, and 2.1 million employees - is a Palantir client, and so is United Healthcare, which processes the medical claims of tens of millions of Americans. Amazon and Apple use Palantir too.

Outside the United States, the Israel Defence Forces uses it to generate targeting databases in Gaza by integrating intercepted communications, satellite imagery, and digital surveillance. The National Health Service in the UK uses it to run the data platform that holds patient records for the entire country. Coles Supermarkets in Australia runs Palantir across all of its 840 stores, and so does Australia’s Department of Defence, the Australian Signals Directorate, AUSTRAC, and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs - all Palantir clients.

The same software choosing who gets bombed in Gaza, and who gets deported from Texas is deciding which Londoner gets the surgery and which one waits another six months, and whether an Aussie supermarket keeps three people on the registers tonight or two. Life and death in one country, healthcare and harm in another. If you live in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or much of Europe, your data is already inside this company - your medical records and your supermarket purchases, your tax filings and your loyalty card swipes, your immigration history and your prescriptions are all swirling together inside one American surveillance company that most people have never heard of.

Palantir is the company that wields the world’s seeing stone, and it recently published a manifesto announcing what it intends to do with what it sees.

A Madman’s Manifesto

Palantir isn’t a company with significant public presence - it doesn’t announce itself the way others do. Unlike most companies who want you to know them, Palantir doesn’t need you to, and probably prefers you not to. Google wants you to search with them, Apple wants you to live on their devices, Amazon wants you to shop with them, but Palantir doesn’t need you to do anything - you’re already in their system, whether you like it or not.

While Google knows what you search, Apple knows what’s on your phone, and Amazon knows what you buy, Palantir is the layer moving silently underneath all of it - the software that integrates the data both government and big business holds on you, and hands the picture to whoever pays for the licence.

This is a company that is woven into the fabric of all of our lives, unbeknownst to most of us, and without our direct consent. Most people would find that disconcerting even if the company in question was the most trustworthy and morally sound organisation in existence, but in recent years, what those at the helm of “the eye of the world” have been professing they stand for makes their entanglement in the inner workings of all of our lives even more deeply concerning.

In 2009, Peter Thiel wrote in an essay for the Cato Institute that he had stopped believing freedom and democracy were compatible, and that since 1920 - when American women got the vote - “the extension of the franchise” had rendered the concept of a “capitalist democracy” a contradiction in terms. In 2014, in a book called Zero to One that has become something of a bible in Silicon Valley, he argued that competition is for losers and monopoly is the goal of every serious founder. It reads like a Palantir operating manual - build the thing no one else can build, make yourself irreplaceable, and never share the market.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp has had plenty to say in recent years too. In 2023, he told investors that Palantir’s mission is “to scare enemies, and on occasion, kill them.” He’s also been quoted as saying, “I love burning the short sellers,” and that he “loved the idea of getting a drone and having light fentanyl-laced urine spraying on analysts that tried to screw us.” But just last month, Karp’s threatening rhetoric escalated when he explained on CNBC that AI would “disrupt” the political power of “highly educated, often female voters who vote mostly Democrat” and redistribute it to “vocationally trained, working-class, often male voters.”

The CEO of one of the world’s most powerful surveillance companies describing a deliberate technological project to reverse the demographic composition of American political power raised more than a few eyebrows, but it turned out that was just a teaser for things to come.

In April this year, Palantir posted a 22-point manifesto to social media, calling for the rollback of the postwar denazification of Germany and Japan, and a return of the military draft. It declared that some cultures are “regressive and harmful” while others have produced “vital advances,” that public figures deserve more grace and less scrutiny of their private lives, and that the atomic age is ending and a new era of AI-built deterrence is beginning. The ominous meaning hidden behind that final point was that nuclear weapons were controlled by treaties, whereas AI weapons are controlled by them.

The post has racked up more than 30 million views in a matter of hours, and caused a stir worldwide. Belgian philosopher Mark Coeckelbergh called it technofascism. Greek economist and politician Yanis Varoufakis reportedly said “If evil could tweet, this is what it would sound like.” UK MPs across multiple parties called it the ramblings of a supervillain and a parody of a RoboCop film, and demanded the government tear up £500 million in contracts.

It was like something a Bond villain would disseminate to alert the planet of their plans for world domination, only this wasn’t a movie - this was real life, and a real tweet, coming from a major software company that has its tentacles deeply embedded in the machinery that runs all of our lives. It was a pitch deck for the end of the liberal democratic project, written by the company that holds the secrets of the western world.

The Curse of Corruption

Over the last two decades, Palantir has morphed from an ambitious tech company into something more insidious, that more closely matches the cursed and corrupted seeing stones that are its namesake. In a disturbing case of life mirroring art, those at the helm of Palantir, seeking to wield the immense power of information its technologies offer, appear to have been corrupted in the same way the characters of Middle Earth were by the cursed seeing stones.

In The Lord of the Rings, the palantíri were originally made by the Elves as gifts meant to help the righteous rulers of Númenor see across the distance of their kingdom. But Sauron captured the master stone in Barad-dûr, and through it he corrupted every holder who looked into any of the surviving stones. The stones themselves were not evil, but because every one of them was connected to a single corrupting source, and every user believed they were strong enough to resist it, the effect was like poison spreading through a vast network. Saruman was the wisest of the wizards, and the stone turned him, to his own demise. Denethor was the Steward of Gondor, and it drove him to burn himself alive. In Tolkien’s books, every person who peered into a palantír was driven to madness - it was through the palantírs that the madness was able to spread.

Now, two decades after founding a company named after those cursed stones, Peter Thiel’s own story reads like a case study in the kind of descent Tolkien warned of. His efforts with Palantir may well have started with something close to good faith - a brilliant young entrepreneur with a piece of software that could, maybe, help a grieving country prevent the next attack, and a genuine belief that the tools he was building could be used to protect Americans while preserving their civil liberties. But what has come since reads like the curse of the palantír’s corruption that Tolkien wrote about in his books playing out in reality just as it did in the legend of Middle Earth, as the man who peered into the seeing stone intent on saving the world became seemingly hell-bent on capturing it for the purposes of domination and control.

Exactly when this corruption began is unclear, though the recent release of the Epstein files gives us a clue. A decade after founding Palantir, Thiel turned up at a dinner in Palo Alto with Jeffrey Epstein, who at the time had been a registered sex offender for seven years. Epstein described the night in a follow-up email as “wild,” and around the same time, invested $40 million across two funds managed by Thiel’s investment firms - a sum that has since grown to roughly $170 million and is now the largest remaining asset in Epstein’s estate.

Records show that Thiel continued correspondence with Epstein - a registered sex offender - right up until his second arrest in 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges. Epstein called Thiel his “great friend” in private messages and used his access to broker meetings with former heads of state, and in one recorded conversation, Epstein floated Palantir directly as a company the former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak should try to embed inside.

Like the powerful wizard seeking wisdom from a poisoned stone, the capital structure of Palantir’s chairman’s investment fund includes nine figures of a convicted sex offender’s money, and he used that man, who had been convicted of procuring a minor for prostitution, as a business development contact for years after his first conviction.

Thiel is not an outlier in Silicon Valley - he wasn’t the only one at that dinner with Epstein in 2015. Mark Zuckerberg was there, and so was Elon Musk and Reid Hoffman, among others. The capital structure of the entire tech industry, and the capital of a convicted child trafficker, were in the same room together, years after his first conviction. The rot is not one man - it is a culture that metabolised Epstein, did business with him, broke bread with him, took his money, and moved on.

What’s unique about Thiel though is how his hand of control over Palantir gave him the means to wield influence over all sectors of American life for the better part of the last twenty years, mostly unbeknownst to the American public. Where someone like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg walked away from their dinner with Epstein and used their platforms like a megaphone to steer the conversation in the public square, Thiel did something far more surreptitious, and in the end, far more dangerous and damaging. Consumers at least had a choice to look away from efforts to spread a poisoned ideology that came through social media - there is no avoiding the poison that silently spreads through the hidden networks of the all-seeing eye.

The Poison and the Palantír

Around the same time as the dinner with Epstein in 2015, and Epstein’s investments, Thiel began personally funding Curtis Yarvin - a neo-reactionary blogger whose entire intellectual project is that democracy is obsolete and should be replaced by a CEO-monarch. Over the past decade, Yarvin has argued in hundreds of thousands of words across his blog that the United States should be run like a corporation, that the voting public are the equivalent of shareholders who need to be replaced by a single sovereign executive, and that the real people running the world should stop pretending they are not. Thiel not only stopped believing in democracy personally - he started quietly bankrolling the man building the philosophical scaffolding for ending it.

Over time, Yarvin’s ideas began circulating in private chat groups, Silicon Valley dinner parties, and long-form blog posts, and Yarvin became, in the words of Peter Thiel’s biographer Max Chafkin, the “house political philosopher” of the “Thielverse” - the loose constellation of investors, founders, writers, and political operatives in Thiel’s orbit who spout Yarvin’s rhetoric. Yarvin has been quoted by multiple prominent figures in the Trump administration, as well as influential figures like Elon Musk and Steve Bannon, and Yarvin himself was a featured guest at Donald Trump’s inauguration ball, described by Politico as an “informal guest of honor” because of his “outsize influence over the Trumpian right.”

This is the ideological infrastructure Thiel has been building like a pipeline over the last decade, with Yarvin as his Wormtongue - whispering in the ears of the political class while Thiel funded the spread of his ideas. Thiel has become like Sauron lurking in the shadows, pulling the strings of those who will do his bidding, and nowhere has this been more evident than in his investment in the man who would go on to become the Vice President of the United States.

Thiel plucked JD Vance from relative obscurity not long after his dinner with Epstein in 2015 and hired him to work at his firm, Mithril Capital (yet another of Thiel’s companies named after a Tolkienism). But colleagues say Vance barely showed up at the office - it seems he was being paid to pen his book, Hillbilly Elegy, which in 2016 became the textbook explanation of Trump’s appeal to the white working class in the year he was first elected. While promoting the book, Vance called Trump “America’s Hitler” and “reprehensible,” “cultural heroin,” a “moral disaster,” but five years later, after Thiel put $10 million into a super PAC for a Senate campaign Vance hadn’t yet announced, Vance went on Fox News and apologised for everything he had ever said about the man, and after another $5 million from Thiel, Vance won his race for the Senate in 2022. After only a year in office, Thiel personally lobbied Trump to choose Vance as his running mate in 2024, and the rest is history.

Thiel didn’t fund a politician - he built one by paying a working-class kid from Ohio to write the book that explained Trumpism to America, then quietly engineered his pivot, his campaign, and his elevation to a heartbeat away from the presidency. Now with his puppet in the White House, the architect remains largely in the dark, peering into the seeing stone that gives him eyes on the inner workings of the whole world, while pulling the strings from arms length.

The man holding the seeing stone looked into it and saw what all holders of the palantíri eventually see - not reality, but a distorted reflection of himself, amplified into something that felt like destiny. He saw a world he could command - the tiresome friction of democracy as an obstacle to be engineered out. He saw dissent as a bug to be patched, the people as data to be optimised, and because the stone shows its holder exactly what the holder most wants to see, he saw himself as the one who should rightfully hold it.

He would not be the first to look into a palantír and lose himself - he’s just the first to incorporate in Delaware and file an S-1. But the sky says his vision is distorted, and that for all the all-seeing eye allows him to see, he has not foreseen what’s coming. Or perhaps he has - and the vision it showed is what stirred the panic that wrote this week’s manifesto.

The Changing Sky The Stones Did Not Foresee

The sky has been watching Thiel’s network take shape since the turn of the century, and every step of its construction has unfolded in alignment with what the planets were doing overhead in the early part of the 21st century.

Pluto in Capricorn concentrated power inside institutions.
Neptune in Pisces hid the networks and moved the money unseen.
Uranus in Taurus wired the physical world into the system.

But now in 2026, every one of those outer-planet positions is ingressing off.

Pluto has left Capricorn for Aquarius.
Neptune left Pisces for Aries at the start of this year.
Uranus left Taurus for Gemini just last month, the same week Palantir published its manifesto.

The entire outer planet signature that built the age of concentrated digital power over the last two decades is shifting all at once, and the sky that is replacing it is the kind that will dismantle what the old sky built.

For decades, the outer planets have been clustered in earth and water signs - the heaviest, densest, slowest signatures the zodiac has to offer. We have been living through years of cement and fog, structure and silt - the kind of sky that hardens institutions, buries truths, and grinds time to a crawl. But now, in the space of barely two years, every one of those slow-moving giants has crossed into a sign of fire or air. For the first time in any of our lifetimes, the entire outer-planet signature has flipped from heavy to electric, from water and earth to fire and air, from dense to fast. Everything is about to feel like it’s moving at a speed the old world can’t keep up with - because it can’t. The earth-and-water sky that poured the cement of the 21st century has lifted, and the fire-and-air sky that ignites and communicates and revolutionises has taken its place. The sky has changed gears.

Pluto moving through Aquarius for the next twenty years will be enough on its own to dissolve concentrated power and redistribute it to the many - the tech bros who think they can hoard power through technology aren’t going to thrive through this shift. Pluto in Aquarius does not tolerate god-kings - it devours them. The last Pluto in Aquarius produced the American and French Revolutions, the Enlightenment, and the printing-press rupture that broke the fusion of church and state, and the one before that produced the Reformation. It’s the transit of the people, and of distributed, networked, horizontal power, and it’s structurally, geometrically, and historically incompatible with the installation of a CEO-king.

The tech bros whose entire business model rose on the rising tide of Pluto in Capricorn are about to discover the tide has turned, and the era that made them is over; their advantage was of the previous transit, and it is futile trying to lock in a Pluto-in-Capricorn result during a Pluto-in-Aquarius transit designed to dissolve it. They’re writing manifestos because they can feel the ground beneath them starting to shake.

But Pluto is really just the background noise of the next two decades. Uranus moving through Gemini until 2033 is the transit that is set to really upset the whole tech apple cart, and the kind of stranglehold those like Peter Thiel have long held over it. Palantir threw down its manifesto declaring its plan for the world it envisages, the same week the sky declared a manifesto of its own.

It’s called Uranus in Gemini, and it’s about to change everything.

Uranus in Gemini, and the Fire of the Gods

Uranus is the planet of shock, and every 80 years or so when it lands in Gemini - the sign of communication - it rewires the channels we speak through, and the entire nervous system of civilisation gets a jolt.

Uranus in Gemini in the 1770s unleashed mass print and gave rise to the newspaper and political press. The wide distribution of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense ignited the revolution that birthed modern democracy.

When Uranus next moved through Gemini in the 1860s, the first transatlantic telegraph cable was laid, and long distance communications that once took days by ship suddenly took only minutes. Diplomacy changed, war changed, and empires that depended on slow information began to collapse, as ones that could move at telegraph speed thrived.

The next time Uranus moved through Gemini in the 1940s, the entire substrate of modern communication was laid down in a single eight year window. The world’s first programmable digital computer was built at Bletchley Park to break the Enigma code. The mathematical theory of information that every digital system now rests on was published. The first model of an artificial neuron was written down. The learning rule that underpins every neural network running today was proposed. The transistor was invented at Bell Labs. Radar matured, television began rolling into homes, and the first commercial computers were drafted on paper.

While the world was busy fighting World War II, the sky was rewiring how the species would communicate over the next century. Every text message, video call, search query, algorithmic feed, and AI model running today traces back to ideas committed to paper while Uranus moved through Gemini in the 1940s.

Each Uranus-in-Gemini transit hands humanity a leap in communication technology, initially through disruption, then through quieter and more permanent transformation that takes decades to fully arrive. The 1770s wired the world for mass print and produced the American Revolution - a war that birthed modern democracy, fought as much in pamphlets as on battlefields. The 1860s wired the world for instant communication and produced the world’s first industrial total war - the American Civil War - conducted at the speed of the new wires. The 1940s wired the world for digital computation and produced World War II, and the only wartime use of nuclear weapons in history.

That’s Uranus in Gemini - destructive and disruptive and fast and revolutionary, all at once, as mankind reaches for the kind of power that was previously the province of gods and puts it in the hands of mortals who are not entirely sure what to do with it. Uranus in Gemini always offers something akin to Promethean fire - use it right, and it heats your home and cooks your food and keeps your children warm through the winter, but use it wrong, and it burns the village to the ground.

The printing press that birthed modern democracy is the same technology that printed the propaganda of every regime that followed. The telegraph cables that let a continent speak to itself in seconds also let generals coordinate slaughter at industrial scale. The same physics that incinerated Hiroshima now lights cities, powers hospitals, and keeps the lights on for hundreds of millions of people. Like the palantír that the Elves made for the good of man in Middle Earth, the technology itself is neither good nor bad - what matters is how it’s used.

These Uranus in Gemini cycles build on each other. The mass print of the 1770s laid the ground for the telegraph cables of the 1860s, which laid the ground for the digital computers of the 1940s, and now the technological advancements that humanity reached for 80 years ago through the birth of computers will reach their full expression in this new cycle with the proliferation of artificial intelligence.

That’s the bomb we’re dealing with this time - the fire we’re now trying to wield, and the palantír at our fingertips. Used well, it cures diseases, accelerates research, translates between languages and cultures, and lifts cognitive labour off the backs of those who never had access to it. Used badly, it incinerates everything in its path.

The Shock to the System

Uranus in Gemini never arrives in the sky alone, and so to fully understand how it will express itself this time around, we must read the whole sky, not just one part of it.

When this transit showed up in the 1940’s, Pluto was in Leo, the transit of the god-king, under which dictators like Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Mao rose. Neptune was also in Libra, crafting the dream of international order, which is why the 1940s ended by building a new architecture that bound the post-war world into structures of balance.

But the sky that made dictators possible in the 1940s is no longer the sky we are standing under. With Neptune now in Aries, where it has not been since the American Civil War, alongside Pluto in Aquarius, where it has not been since the American Revolution, what we should expect to see over the next decade as Uranus moves through Gemini is not more tech bros hoarding the power of their software over the collective, but that power being redistributed, in service of the people.

Uranus in Gemini is the shock to communications, and the greatest shock in this cycle will come to those who try to dominate the spread of information. Thiel and his contemporaries may think they are capturing AI, but this sky will make that impossible; trying to hold a Uranus-in-Gemini technology under a Pluto-in-Aquarius sky will be like trying to hold water in a sieve. The technology is built for networks - its native behaviour is to speak, to spread, to twin, to leak, to proliferate - and this sky does not support its containment. Every jailbreak, every open-source release, every distillation, every model trained on a larger model’s outputs is Gemini doing what Gemini does, surrounded by a sky that’s not holding it back.

The containment failed on day one, through the basic physics of the transit we are in. Information under Uranus in Gemini does not stay where you put it. The leak is not the exception - it’s the rule.

As for Palantir, it’s headed for its Saturn return in late 2031 at the closing window of Uranus in Gemini. Companies either pass Saturn return or they don’t - and most don’t - and theirs lands on top of the transit specifically designed to break them. Peter Thiel himself will face his second personal Saturn return in 2027 - the structural judgment of his life’s architecture.

Thiel and his Palantir pals and the tech bros of Silicon Valley are not the protagonists of this transit - they are the antagonists the transit is designed to dissolve. This week’s manifesto was the hubris moment in a Greek tragedy - it was Denethor looking into the stone, and Saruman thinking he can bargain with what he sees there. The palantír does not serve its holder - it never has, and under this sky, it never will. The AI they think they own is far more likely to become the instrument of their own unwinding - open-source, encrypted, sovereign, distributed, peer-to-peer, ours - as Uranus-in-Gemini carves a path of disruption that will dismantle the pyramid they’re perched upon.

The age of monopoly over capability is ending, ever since Saturn and Neptune met in Aries in February for the Genesis Reset, and called time on the Age of the Mind, the Age of Extraction, and the Age of Domination. Every marker in the sky is now pointing to the rise of a new age that looks more like a circle than a pyramid, where power no longer coagulates at the top but is rather distributed among the many.

We are standing at the dawn of the Age of the Heart, and we are once again being handed the power of the gods, and being asked if we have yet matured enough to wisely use it. Artificial intelligence is not here to destroy us any more than nuclear power was - used wisely, it is the gift, like the palantir, that will help us see clearly. It is the bridge to our own remembering that we each hold the power of the gods within us, and it is the tool we are being given to trigger that remembering.

The mind was never fit to wield such power, and as we enter this new age, we are being asked if we are ready to step out of our minds and wield the tools we are being handed from the deepest part of ourselves - a tool that could destroy us all if used unwisely, but that could also lead us to our liberation, if used with wisdom.

The Age of the Mind handed us power, and we pointed it at Hiroshima. Now here, at the dawn of the Age of the Heart, we are being handed the power to rise or die, and once again we are being asked to choose.

The Sky Has the Final Word

Looking around at the state of the world, and the caliber of humans running it right now, does not offer much hope that humanity is up to the task of choosing how to wisely wield the power it’s being gifted. But the sky is not giving up on us - it’s not signalling our doom, but rather mapping the winds of change that will guide us to our deliverance.

The proof of the sky’s direction is already showing up in flesh and blood in the form of people like Alex Bores, a former Palantir data scientist who is now running for Congress in New York’s 12th district, on a platform of regulating the very technology he once helped build. He has said publicly that his former colleagues cannot be trusted to wield this technology without guardrails - and he should know because he was inside - and for this, he’s been hit with more than $2.3 million in attack ads from a Silicon Valley super PAC funded by leading figures from Palantir, OpenAI and Meta.

Politico described the super PAC’s strategy as wanting to beat Bores up so badly that other politicians would run the other way at the mere mention of regulating AI. This is classic Pluto-in-Aquarius - the old sky’s protegees try to crush the new sky’s emissaries with money, because money is the only weapon they have left. But the sky has more emissaries, and more time, and it’s less interested in who falls, and more invested in who and what rises in their place.

The disruption Uranus in Gemini will bring over the next seven years is not the destination, but the clearing. Every previous Uranus-in-Gemini transit looked, at the time, like the world was breaking, and in many ways it was, but what looked like breakdown was always breakthrough underneath - the old wiring stripped out so that new wiring could be laid.

The chaos is not the point - the chaos is the path. And the chaos of this transit will feel, for a while, like everything is coming apart. As artificial intelligence arrives faster than any system was built to absorb, jobs will shift, and industries will buckle. The old certainties of how we earn our worth and prove our value will not survive the decade. What the sky is actually mapping is the dismantling of an architecture built for extraction, and the rising of one built for coherence. AI in the hands of a fear-led system scales fear, but AI in the hands of a heart-led one does something the world has never seen. It hands us back many of the resources the Age of the Mind stole from us, including the most precious one of all - time. Time to tend to what matters, and to heal what we’ve inherited. Time to actually live, instead of grinding ourselves into dust to prove we deserve to.

That is the world Uranus in Gemini is opening the door to - not a dystopia of machine overlords, but a redistribution of cognitive labour so radical that, for the first time in centuries, humans get to remember what we are actually for. The technology that has the potential to replace us also holds the potential to relieve us, and to free us, so we are no longer slaves to the machine, and slaves to the system, and toiling day in and day out just to keep that old system running. No longer be hamsters caught in the wheel, but people free to do that which no machine can ever do - love, care, tend, commune and create, as was always intended.

What feels right now like a rapid unravelling holds the possibility of a triumphant return to a way things once used to be in a time that history forgot - a return to harmony with one another and the Earth, a return to balance, and equity, and true freedom like we have never experienced. And the path to this return runs straight through the crack Uranus in Gemini is about to carve - and that crack is not necessarily destruction, but a new world finding its way in.

So take heart, friends. Those who have peered into the seeing stone and mistaken their own reflection for destiny - their days are numbered. The sky has already written it. The transit that built them is over, and the transit that dissolves them has begun. Since late in 2024, Pluto has been moving forward through the early degrees of Aquarius, pressing into its twenty year journey through the sign that governs systems, networks, and collective organization. Pluto in Aquarius is the slow transformation of the structures we live inside - governments, technologies, financial systems, the architecture of who counts and how decisions get made - and for months now, that pressure has been gathering across the entire global system, reshaping the world as we know it.

But this week, Pluto stops moving forward, and for the next five months, it will retrograde back across the same part of the sky it just traversed - as if it’s the steamroller reversing back over what it just mowed down. Whatever Pluto compressed in the first few months of this year - the political maps it tore up and redrew, the institutional rulings, the system shifts in technology, finance, surveillance, and collective organization it oversaw - is all about to be composted slowly over the months ahead, and by the time Pluto stations direct in mid-October, just a few weeks before the United States midterms, whatever has been processed underground will return to the surface as fact.

The systems we have lived inside our whole lives are not going to be repaired by this cycle. They are going to be transformed - which, in Pluto’s vocabulary, means broken down so that something else can be built on the cleared ground. That breaking is going to keep happening, and it will hurt, and we will lose things we love, and we will watch institutions that once meant something become hollow, and see leaders fail us, and the maps we trusted to guide us go blank.

Yet at the same time, something else is being born, at scales most of us are not yet looking at. In gardens, and group chats, and in neighborhood meetings. In small congregations, and watershed councils, and tool libraries, and open source projects. The next world is being seeded right now, in places small enough that the people inside them know each other’s names, and the work in this season is not to be saved by the failing system, but to recognize that the system is finishing, and to put our actual building energy into what comes next.

And what exactly comes next? Well, the sky is telling us that clearly too. The last time Pluto moved through Aquarius 250 years ago, it steamrolled over the divine right of kings, and democracy was born on the cleared ground. Now it’s back to collapse a system that’s no longer fit for purpose, and it’s already describing what we should build in its place.

This week the old world's losses came in faster than its performers could spin them, as the empire kept insisting on its dominance while the ground gave way beneath it; the alliances cracked, the allies walked, the institutions bent, and beneath all the noise, the sky began drawing a map that does not lead back to the house we were born in.

This week revealed the shape of a presidency losing on every external front all at once, as Trump’s war on Iran hit its sixty-day War Powers deadline - the date by which a president who has launched military action without congressional approval must either end the hostilities or get Congress to authorise them. Trump did neither, instead sending letters to the House and the Senate claiming the war “terminated” on April 7 - the day he ordered a ceasefire that has since been broken multiple times. The letter conveniently ignored the ongoing US blockade of Iranian ports - which in itself is an act of war - the April 19 US strike on an Iranian tanker, the fact that Trump himself told an audience the same day that “we’re in a war,” and that he’s still requesting a $1.5 trillion defence budget to keep prosecuting the war he says has ended.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth tried to argue in front of the Senate that the sixty-day clock pauses during a ceasefire; Senator Tim Kaine noted the law says no such thing. Speaker Mike Johnson declared that Congress doesn’t need to act because the United States is “currently not at war,” and Senate Majority Leader John Thune said he won’t challenge Trump’s reading of the War Powers Act because his caucus isn’t asking him to. So everything’s going just swimmingly over on Capitol Hill.

With 13 American service members dead and more than 400 wounded, dozens of aircraft lost and US missile inventories alarmingly depleted, the Pentagon confirmed the war has cost American taxpayers $25 billion so far, but CNN reported the figure climbs to $40–50 billion when the damage to US bases and infrastructure across the Gulf - far worse than the administration disclosed - is included.

When German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared this week that the United States has no strategic plan, and “the entire nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership,” the Pentagon responded by confirming the US would withdraw 5,000 troops from Germany - a move that primarily benefits Vladimir Putin, whose war on Ukraine just entered its fifth year, and visibly cracks the post-war alliance system that has held the world together since 1945.

At the same time, the United Arab Emirates formally left OPEC after 59 years of membership, after spending weeks absorbing Iranian missile strikes while supporting the US war effort, and watching the Strait of Hormuz closure cripple their oil exports. The UAE was the cartel's third-largest producer, and no major top-tier OPEC member has ever voluntarily walked out before - the petrodollar architecture that’s anchored US economic dominance since 1974 is fracturing because America's most loyal ally in the region got tired of bearing the costs of the war Trump started on a whim.

Economist Paul Krugman noted this week that the acronym “TACO” for “Trump Always Chickens Out” has been replaced by “NACHO” for “Not A Chance Hormuz Opens” - Iran has no incentive to strike a deal with Trump because the oil pinch hurts him more than it hurts them, and because Trump cannot be trusted to honour any deal he makes anyway. Meanwhile, the real cost of Trump’s war is starting to be felt not only at gas pumps worldwide, but in the business sector, as Spirit Airlines - America’s eighth-largest carrier, with 17,000 employees - ceased operations suddenly this week, citing rising fuel costs due to the closure of the Strait as a contributing factor. As gas prices keep going up and farmers keep declaring bankruptcy due to rising cost of fertilizer - also a casualty of the Strait closure - it’s getting harder to hide the fallout from Trump’s reckless war, and the worst of it is still yet to come.

Perhaps as a convenient distraction, the administration spent the week trying to weaponise last weekend’s gunshots at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in service of the ballroom Trump wants built. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche filed a seven-page motion to dissolve the court injunction blocking construction that read as if it had been written by a madman. It opened by declaring that the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s name is “FAKE,” and then went on to argue that if a man can sprint through a magnetometer at the Washington Hilton with a shotgun and three knives, the only acceptable solution is for the President to never have to leave the White House grounds ever again. Senator Lindsey Graham and other loyalists then introduced a bill to appropriate $400 million of taxpayer money to build the ballroom outright, on the site of the East Wing the President demolished without permission, despite the fact Trump has repeatedly promised the Ballroom would be funded through private donations he claims have already been collected.

Trump took to 60 Minutes, ostensibly to address the shooting and his urgent need for a ballroom, only to be confronted by CBS correspondent Norah O’Donnell reading aloud from the alleged shooter’s manifesto, including the line where he stated his motive as a refusal to “permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” Though never mentioned by name, Trump assumed the reference was to him and declared, “I’m not a rapist… I’m not a pedophile,” to which O’Donnell responded “Oh, do you think he was referring to you?” And for just a brief moment, she silenced the man who never stops talking.

Mid-week, King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived for their British state visit to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States. In Trump's welcome speech to the visiting royals, he rewrote the founding of the United States as a story of “blood and noble spirit” and “Anglo-Saxon courage” and explicitly rejected the idea that America was founded on “the revolutionary idea of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” in favour of the idea that America is a bloodline.

King Charles, only the second British monarch ever to address a joint session of Congress after his mother in 1991, used what was supposed to be a courtesy to deliver a Magna Carta rebuke of his host. He centred the 800-year-old document that established that kings must answer to the law, noted the Supreme Court has cited it in at least 160 cases, praised the Founders for “balancing contending forces and drawing strength in diversity,” and urged the United States to “ignore the clarion calls to become ever more inward-looking.” He also invoked NATO’s collective defence commitment as a sacred trust, reminding Congress that the only time it has ever been triggered was after 9/11, in defence of America.

The most-watched speech of King Charles’s reign turned out to be a goodbye to Trump’s revisionist alliance, disguised as a warm state-visit greeting, to which the official White House social media account responded by posting a photo of the two men together captioned “TWO KINGS,” which went down a treat. Then, at a state dinner, King Charles presented Trump with the original brass bell from the HMS Trump, a British submarine that served during World War II. Trump looked pleased as punch, not realising the entire population of Britain was sniggering at the bell’s implication - very Benny Hill - made even sweeter when the King quipped, “Should you ever need to get hold of us, just give us a ring.” Soft diplomacy with a very British finish.

Inside Trump’s own administration, the cabinet kept fraying, with Vice President JD Vance reportedly now distancing himself from the Iran debacle by quietly questioning whether Hegseth is providing Trump accurate information about the war, and Republican senators losing confidence in Hegseth as he hollows out the senior officer ranks of the US military. Though new polls revealed Trump’s approval is tanking even amongst Republicans, that didn’t stop the State Department from finalising plans to put Trump’s face on US passports, or the Pentagon from asking Congress to formally rename the Defense Department the “Department of War” at a cost of $52 million.

As the week went on, the FCC, chaired by Trump loyalist Brendan Carr, opened a review of ABC’s broadcast licences after Jimmy Kimmel told yet another joke that the Trumps didn’t like, and a federal grand jury in North Carolina indicted former FBI director James Comey for posting a photo of seashells on Instagram arranged in the pattern “86 47” - alleged by the indictment to be a death threat against the 47th president of the United States. All very, very normal stuff.

As the world watches on in horror, it’s not just Trump’s presidency that’s unravelling - it’s the architecture of an entire world order coming apart on America's watch, by America’s own hand, in front of a global audience whose lives are shaped by decisions made by people they did not vote for and cannot remove.

The sky has been pointing at this moment for years, mapping the same configuration that produced America itself two and a half centuries ago, asking the same question it asks every time an old order has stopped serving the people inside it. But this time, under this sky, the answer being pointed to looks nothing like the one given in 1776.

The World Made in America

For most of our lifetimes, the President of the United States has been widely considered the leader of the free world - the most powerful person on the planet - but this was not always so. Prior to the mid 1900s, the question of who governed in Washington was a matter of distant interest to most of the world’s population. Britain ran the international financial system, France and Germany contested Europe, the Ottoman world held its own sphere, and China was an empire of itself. The United States, until well into the twentieth century, was politically peripheral to the way the rest of the world organized itself.

That changed in 1945, when the Second World War ended with the European powers exhausted - their empires bankrupt, their cities in rubble, their treasuries empty. The United States, by contrast, emerged with its territory untouched, its industrial capacity doubled, its treasury full, and its scientists in possession of the atomic bomb. Roughly half of all manufacturing on Earth was happening within American borders, so when the rest of the world needed reconstruction, only one country had the capital and the capacity to fund it.

What followed, across the second half of the twentieth century, was the construction of an international architecture with the United States at its center. American money rebuilt Europe under the NATO security umbrella, the dollar became the world's reserve currency, American military bases ringed the planet, American consumer culture became global culture, and American technology became the platforms through which most humans communicated.

For three quarters of a century, this was the world we lived in, in which the basic rules of international finance, trade, communication, and security were all set by a single power with a relatively predictable internal politics. The rest of the world had no say in who steered the ship; only Americans got to vote for the person who sat at the center. Roughly 5% of the world’s population chose the leader who shaped the lives of the other 95% - that was the deal the rest of the world agreed to in return for America saving the day. The rest of the planet placed its faith in the American people to always choose leaders wisely who would honor international treaties, keep the global currency stable, limit wars, promote peace and ensure the center held.

For three quarters of a century, that faith mostly paid off - it wasn’t perfect, but it staved off global conflict and produced prosperity across the Western world for decades. But that trust has now been irrevocably broken, after the American electorate chose twice to elect a convicted criminal and serial fraudster whose first administration ended with an attempted coup and whose second administration has taken a wrecking ball to the entire post-war architecture.

Under America’s mad king, NATO allies are unsure whether their security guarantees are real. The dollar’s reserve status is being questioned for the first time in eighty years. Tariffs no court has authorized are reordering global trade. And the war on Iran - the war this administration started in defiance of its own intelligence services, in violation of international law, and against the advice of nearly every regional ally - has now closed the Strait of Hormuz, choked off roughly 20% of global oil supply, and pushed the international energy system to the edge of a crisis with no historical precedent.

As a result, energy and food prices have already doubled in much of the world, and now famine warnings are being issued across parts of Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. Countries who had no vote in the American election are now bearing the cost of its outcome in a way that no country outside America’s own population should ever have been asked to bear.

The world has watched on in horror these last fifteen months as Donald Trump has run roughshod over American democracy and the world order, and the systems designed to rein him in have failed one by one. Congress, the Senate, and the Supreme Court have all failed, and it seems that now the only hope of ending Trump’s reign of madness might be a return to the very ballot box that began it, with the entire planet asked to place faith once again in an American electorate that is as unreliable as its institutions.

The world’s weary eyes are squarely fixed on the November midterms in a way they have never been during any election in living memory, eager to see whether the country that built the post-war world can still correct itself through the mechanism it built itself around - the vote - or whether that mechanism has now been damaged past the point where correction is possible from inside it.

The outcome of these midterm elections won’t just affect Americans - this is a hinge point for the whole world, and right now 8 billion people are leaning in with some trepidation to see what America does next.

Dirty Deeds Done in Daylight

Trump is going into these midterms as one of the most unpopular presidents in American history. His approval rating has cratered to the low 30s across all the major polls, converging on numbers that match the floor he hit in January 2021, in the days after his supporters stormed the Capitol. What makes this historically remarkable isn't just the depth but the persistence: Trump has been underwater for nearly his entire time in the Oval Office.

As each day passes in Trump’s second term, so do the chances that Republicans hold on to power beyond the midterms. By every standard measure of the modern political cycle, the Republican Party is heading into November carrying the heaviest weight of any incumbent administration in living memory.

The midterms are always a referendum on the party that holds the White House, and what the American public is being asked to ratify in these elections is unprecedented. A war with Iran. The kidnapping of Maduro. ICE agents shooting civilians on American streets. Boats blown up in the Caribbean. Concentration camps in the Florida swamps. Tariffs no court has authorized. The Epstein files mishandled at the highest level of the executive branch. A cabinet stocked with conflict and apparently designed for impunity. The list runs longer every week.

As it stands right now, Democrats are positioned to take back the House and very possibly the Senate, and what waits on the other side of that flip is the thing this White House fears most - hearings with subpoena power, committee investigations, and likely articles of impeachment for the president and even the Vice President; a constitutional reckoning the administration has spent the entire first half of its term thumbing its nose at.

In the face of such a likely thrashing at the polls, Republicans haven’t been regrouping, or backing down, or changing their policies to improve their popularity - they’ve been doing everything they can to put their thumb on the scales, redrawing electoral maps to rig the game in their favour. Texas redrew its map last year under direct White House pressure, and this week Florida approved a redrawn map designed to pick up four Republican seats in the House, despite the fact that more than ten years ago, voters passed a constitutional amendment that bans partisan redrawing. New York’s GOP-favoring seat was protected by the courts in March, and Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio have all signalled that redrawn maps of their own are incoming. There’s no pretence that any of this is being done in response to demographic change or census revision - it’s all being done to protect Republican-controlled legislatures from facing electoral collapse in November.

This gerrymandering of electoral maps is not new. The word itself was minted in 1812 after Massachusetts Governor Elbridge Gerry - a Founding Father - signed a redistricting bill that twisted one of the state’s senate districts into a shape that resembled a salamander. The Boston Gazette ran a cartoon of the district drawn as a winged reptile, captioned “The Gerry-mander,” and the word entered the language.

What’s new is the scale and the science. After the 2010 census, the Republican State Leadership Committee ran an operation called REDMAP - Redistricting Majority Project - that targeted state legislative chambers in census years specifically so that Republicans would control the drawing of congressional maps for the entire decade. The strategy worked, and by 2012, in the first election under the new maps, even though Democrats won 1.4 million more votes than Republicans in House races nationwide, Republicans won the chamber by 33 seats. The maps had done what no campaign could have undone.

Gerrymandering is not unique to America - democracies all over the world have seen ruling parties attempt to redraw electoral maps to favour themselves, but most have put a stop to this blatantly corrupt behaviour, appointing independent bodies to oversee such redrawing to avoid following the American system down the rabbit hole, where it’s now spiralling out of control.

In America, far from stopping the corruption, the Courts have been chipping away at the laws designed to prevent it. In 2013, the Supreme Court gutted Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 - the pre-clearance regime that for decades had forced states with histories of disenfranchisement to get federal approval before changing voting laws.

Then in 2019, the Court crossed another rubicon when it ruled that federal courts have no authority to police partisan gerrymandering claims, essentially giving a green-light to the redrawing of electoral maps for political purposes. That devastating decision left only one federal framework standing - Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which prohibited the drawing of maps that diluted the voting power of racial minorities. Where the courts could no longer touch a map drawn for partisan advantage, they could still strike down a map drawn to weaken Black, Latino, or Indigenous voting power, by either packing those communities into a single district or splintering them across many.

But this week, the Supreme Court came for Section 2, in the final act of a long running saga that has piece by piece sought to dismantle the scaffolding that holds up American democracy, and signals peril for the upcoming November midterms.

The Democracy Dilemma

The case the Supreme Court ruled on this week was brought by “non-African American voters” who believed Louisiana’s congressional map was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, after it was redrawn following a court ruling that deemed the one the Republican-controlled legislature had drawn diluted Black voting power. This week the six Republican-appointed justices on the Supreme Court agreed, and within hours of the ruling, Louisiana’s Republican governor, Jeff Landry, declared a state of emergency, suspending the primary elections in the state in order to gerrymander the state to grab one or two more Republican seats, even though overseas ballots have already been mailed and early voting was about to begin.

The Supreme Court’s ruling this week has all but neutered Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act - Justice Kagan said as much in her dissent, noting it rendered Section 2 “all but a dead letter.” The Supreme Court has now established a constitutional architecture in which states are now free to redraw district lines to undercut the power of minority voters, a demographic that tends to vote for Democrats.

That is not a system of fair elections under federal law - it’s a system of map control under partisan command that the Republicans have been preparing for for decades, and now faced with this new tainted architecture, Democrats find themselves with few options that don't require them to compromise the basic principles of democracy itself.

This week’s ruling all but forces Democrats to walk through the door Republicans have already walked through - match them gerrymander for gerrymander in every state where Democrats hold the pen. If Democrats redrew everywhere they hold power to the maximum the law allows, the math roughly cancels the Republican advantage, but the cost of taking this path is that the country ends up with a Congress in which essentially no general election seat is competitive anywhere - every district is drawn to be safe for one party. The legitimacy of representation as a concept quietly collapses, with both parties’ fingerprints on the weapon.

Alternatively, Democrats can refuse the arms race entirely and run on the rule of law - maintain independent redistricting commissions, honor the existing maps, and campaign as the pro-democracy party against a Republican Party that has openly abandoned democratic norms. The argument for that course of action is principled, and some Democratic strategists continue to make it, but it also, on the present numbers, loses the House. Possibly badly.

And so, Democrats now face a crossroads - a fork in the road Republicans came to long ago and chose their path straight off the cliff. One path leads Democrats to becoming the very thing they say they oppose, by dismantling the legal infrastructure they built to protect minority voters and the basic tenets of democracy itself. The other path leads to an almost certain loss in November, where they remain the minority party, unable to launch investigations or place a check on Donald Trump’s power. There are no other paths available inside the electoral system as currently constituted.

America’s institutional architecture has been systematically rigged over decades to produce exactly this dilemma. The Supreme Court has not handed Democrats a defeat - it has handed them an invitation to corrupt themselves in the name of resistance. This is what corruption at scale actually looks like - not a wad of cash in a brown paper bag, but a system in which the only way to win is to cheat. The system is no longer functioning despite the cheating - the cheating is the system functioning as intended.

Republicans have spent decades building a machine designed to make Democratic resistance impossible without Democratic complicity, and that machine is now operational. The Democrats can refuse to use it and lose, or they can use it and win and discover, somewhere on the other side, that they have become the thing they were elected to defeat. Neither of these options preserves what the party claims to stand for. The trap is the trap because the system itself is the problem.

The binary we have been told defines our politics - left vs right, blue vs red - is becoming little more than a costume as both parties try to operate the same rotten machine. The map is no longer the map, and the party is no longer the party, as the system that was supposed to translate the will of the people into the shape of the government is being dismantled in plain sight, by both hands working together.

Since Trump returned to office at the start of 2025, the prevailing wisdom has been that if we can just make it to the 2026 midterms, then we can vote our way out of the mess that’s been created, and while a win for the Democrats in November may certainly put checks and balances on one of the most reckless presidencies in history, it will do little to address the rotting system that the Democrats themselves have long been part of and are now being forced to fully buy into in order to have a chance at that November win.

Voting in November is a temporary solution to a terminal problem. The last time America faced a broken system - exactly 250 years ago - voting was the answer that rid the system of the rot, but this time around, simply propping up the system with votes is not the answer the sky is pointing to. The answer to America’s problem lies right back where its original solution was forged, under the same sky we’re looking at now, almost two and a half centuries later.

The Sky of Collapse and Revolution

If you look up in the sky right now, you’ll see Pluto moving through Aquarius, and Uranus starting its journey through Gemini. These two powerful outer planets have not held these positions together since the late 1700s, and the last time they did, the world changed completely.

The last time Pluto was in Aquarius from 1778 to 1798, it worked with Uranus in Gemini to oversee the most radical political experiment of its kind in centuries - building the architecture of modern democracy. The Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, the first Congress, the Supreme Court, the Bill of Rights, the establishing of the presidency itself - every foundational structure of American governance was assembled during Pluto’s last journey through Aquarius, triggered by Uranus electrifying the world in Gemini.

Now, two and a half centuries later, both these outer planets are back in the signs where they last revolutionized the world to work their magic once again.

Pluto’s not a builder - it’s the mechanism that churns old systems into mulch, clearing the ground for the planting of something new. It’s Uranus that sparks new life in the world’s garden, and in the sign of Gemini, what it sparks is always electric. Uranus is revolution and Gemini is communication, so while Pluto does the composting, Uranus in Gemini rewires the way we communicate - that’s what’s happening now, just as it did back in the 1700s.

What was forged in the 1780s came about as the result of a similar period of collapse to the one we are currently living through. Contrary to the sanitised historical picture that’s been painted, the twenty years from 1778 to 1798 were not a calm constitutional drafting exercise carried out by wise men in powdered wigs. They were two decades of more or less continuous crisis, war, near-collapse, and improvisation, in which the eventual architecture got built because the existing arrangements kept failing. The founders who established the constitution, the federal courts, the presidency and the Bill of Rights were responding to a British imperial system that no longer served them. They weren’t planning to build the United States - they were acknowledging something was broken, and attempting to build something better from the rubble, not despite the chaos, but inside it.

When Pluto left Aquarius in 1798, it didn’t return until 2024, just two weeks after America voted to put Donald Trump back in the White House for a second term. Trump was essentially Pluto’s messenger, and he came in like a wrecking ball - his entire second term has been like the composting of the old world, grinding the old system to dust and clearing the ground for something new.

We’ve been living inside that process of demolition for over a year now, watching everything we have come to rely on being dismantled, without anything solid being planted in its place, and that collapse is going to continue - Pluto’s going to be in Aquarius until the 2040s and the deconstruction of the old world will carry on right through those years - but just last week, Uranus returned to the sign of Gemini, and once again the ground Pluto’s wrecking ball has cleared is being electrified with the energy of something new.

A New Answer to the Sky's Old Question

The last time Uranus in Gemini electrified the world during a Pluto in Aquarius demolition, democracy was what bloomed out of the rubble. At a time when the world was almost entirely organised under monarchies, empires, and aristocratic oligarchies at the time, a representative democracy at continental scale was truly revolutionary. It literally changed the world.

But the system built under Uranus’ last pass through Gemini was made for a world wired for slower communication - a world without phones, or computers, or satellites, or cars, or planes. Now, two and a half centuries later, that world no longer exists, and the revolutionary system that translated 3 million colonists’ will into the United States Constitution is being asked to translate the will of 330 million people into coherent policy, while simultaneously maintaining the international order it built after 1945 for 8 billion people who had no vote in it. No wonder it’s collapsing under its own weight.

The whole machine that was electrified to life by Uranus in Gemini in the 1700s has now hardened into something that no longer responds to the people it was built to serve. The system is failing because it was never designed for the scale it’s now being asked to operate at.

What Pluto is composting on its way through Aquarius this time is not democracy as a principle, but the 18th century implementation of democracy at continental scale via centralised representative institutions. And what Uranus is electrifying on its journey through Gemini this time is exactly what was electrified last time, but at a scale and saturation the colonists could never have imagined.

By the time Uranus leaves Gemini in 2033, the infrastructure of top-down decision-making will not be what it is now. The newspapers, the broadcast networks, and the few-to-many information architecture that has dominated since the postwar era are already in collapse, and the next seven years will finish them. What replaces them will be the substrate on which the new political forms get built, exactly as the pamphlets and printing presses and committees of correspondence were the substrate the founders built on top of.

The committees of correspondence of 1772 were a few dozen letters travelling between a handful of colonies on horseback, taking weeks to reach their destination. The committees of correspondence of 2026 are billions of people, networked instantly, across every continent, in every language, through channels that route around centralised media and centralised governments and centralised currencies.

Substack, social media, podcasts, encrypted messengers, mesh networks, peer-to-peer financial systems, federated social platforms, open-source software running civilisational infrastructure outside corporate control - Uranus is about to electrify the structural role these networks play by pulling them from the margins of how people get their information and into the centre of how people coordinate, organise, and govern themselves.

And running alongside Pluto doing the composting and Uranus doing the electrifying is a third outer planet that’s playing a different role this time around than it did in the 1700s, and it’s that planet that tells us that what comes next will not look like what came before.

Same, Same, But Different

Neptune was in Libra in the 1780s - the last time Pluto was composting and Uranus was electrifying - and Neptune in Libra is the planetary signature of the balanced contract. Neptune in Libra dreams the perfect agreement - between citizens and state, between branches of government, between rival factions, between former enemies. What the founders built under that signature was the most ambitious set of Libra documents in modern political history.

The Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Federalist Papers and even the Treaty of Paris are all Libra coded. The dream of the founders - the dream of Neptune in Libra - was that a sufficiently well-designed system could produce justice and freedom across vast scale, and that dream produced the most successful version of representative democracy in modern history. It’s the very dream now being composted by the architecture it built, as Pluto moves once again through Aquarius and Uranus moves through Gemini, alongside Neptune now in Aries, the complete opposite signature to Neptune in Libra.

Aries is not balance - it’s the singular flame. Where Libra dreams the perfect agreement and builds institutions to balance opposing interests, Aries returns power to the individual - the person, the household, the small community. Neptune in Aries does not need an institution to legitimise its sovereignty - it dissolves the idea that authority comes from outside the self, and that contracts and balances of power are what make us free, and it returns us to the more ancient understanding that sovereignty is a quality of the person, not a property of the state. It champions the notion that legitimate collective action begins from the gathering of sovereign individuals - not from their delegation upward to representatives who will act on their behalf from a distant capital.

This is the new element amidst this familiar sky of collapse and revolution, and it changes everything about what this cycle is asking of us. Where the founders built outward from the contract - working from the top down - this cycle is building outward from the person. The household, the neighbourhood, the watershed, the bioregion. Networks of sovereign small units coordinating directly with each other across distance, without needing a continental institution to mediate them.

Whatever gets built in this cycle will not look like what came before. The United States Constitution was the Libra answer to the Pluto-in-Aquarius opportunity. The Aries answer will be something we don’t yet have a name for, but its structural signature will be small-scale sovereignty and networked across distance, rather than large-scale institutions delegated from above.

A Big Shift Toward Something Small

The founders did not invent their dream out of nothing - they inherited it from a century of European thought that had already dreamed the balanced contract into being - Montesquieu, Rousseau, Locke, Hume. The intellectual scaffolding for what they built was laid down across the Enlightenment. We don’t yet have the names of the philosophers whose work will be remembered in 2270 the way Rousseau’s is remembered today, but they are alive right now, and their work is accumulating in places the centralised media is not looking.

The philosophy of bioregionalism, the mutual aid tradition, the commons movement, the peer-to-peer political theory, the food sovereignty movement - all of this has been quietly building the philosophical scaffolding for what comes next, exactly as the Enlightenment philosophers built the scaffolding for what came last time.

With Pluto unmaking the systemic structures, and Uranus rewiring the information substrate, and Neptune returning sovereignty to the small unit, we are not being asked to vote harder to prop up the old system - we are being asked to build something smaller. That’s the cosmological instruction of the moment. The smaller scale is the new foundation, and the failure of the big system is what is making the room for it.

The chart of what comes next is being drawn right now, in basements and gardens and group chats and neighbourhood meetings and small congregations and reclaimed lots and watershed councils and tool libraries and open-source projects. It is being drawn at scales small enough that the people inside the structure actually know each other’s names. The committees of correspondence of our era already exist - some of them have existed for decades, quietly building, waiting for the moment the larger system would crack open enough for them to take on structural roles. And that moment is now.

The system we were raised in always told us that the solution to our problems was to cast a vote, and put someone else at the top of the pyramid, but that was the answer to a question the sky was asking in the 1780s, during the last collapse and rewiring. Now, the sky is asking a different question entirely, and it requires a different answer.

A better president will not save us from a broken system, and neither will a better Congress. We can vote in better people, and the better people will still preside over an architecture that delivers rotten outputs, because the architecture itself is rotten at the core. The system of large-scale electoral representation as the primary mechanism of collective decision-making is the thing this cycle is unwinding. It’s what the sky is moving us away from, in favour of something smaller and more personal.

Grow our own food.
Buy from our neighbours.
Generate energy on the roof.
Bank locally.
Educate cooperatively.
Organise the block.
Show up at the town meeting.
Know the watershed.
Know the soil.
Know the names.
Tell the truth in our own language.
Refuse the algorithms when they’re not serving us.
Let the wild voice within us speak.

That’s the new ground - the thing Pluto in Aquarius is making space for this time around, the thing that Uranus in Gemini is electrifying and Neptune in Aries is igniting like a fire in all of us.

Of course, the November midterm elections still matter; we must continue to participate where participation prevents the worst, and we must vote where we live, for the people who will hold the line on the immediate harms - the deportations, the wars, the assaults on minority communities, the dismantling of what protections still remain. A Democratic House may slow some of what’s coming, and that’s not nothing, but it’s not everything either.

Voting was the revolutionary answer in the 1780s to a question that has changed entirely in the 2020s. Now, in this cycle under this sky, we are being guided towards a better answer.

The House, the Garden, and Hope’s New Address

Under this changing sky, hope no longer lives where we have been told to look for it.

Hope is no longer on the ballot. It’s not in the next president, or the next Congress, or the next Supreme Court appointment. Hope has changed its address, and it now lives in the soil, in the neighbourhood, in the network, in the work we do with our own hands at the scales we can actually touch.

The house we all grew up in has rotten floorboards and rotten walls and a collapsing roof, and no amount of nostalgia for what it was will make it other than what it is. We loved that house - many of us were born in it, and many of us still live in it - but it is being demolished, and the cosmic instruction of this moment is to let it come down, while we tend to what is already blooming beneath our feet.

This is the hardest spiritual work this cycle is asking of us - to stop trying to repair what cannot be repaired. To stop pouring our life-force into resuscitating a body that is being composted by forces older and larger than the political season we are living through. To stop mistaking our love for the house for an obligation to keep its rotting walls standing. The walls are coming down - Pluto will make sure of that. We did not start this demolition and we cannot stop it. What we can do is decide where to stand.

We can stand in the rubble, weeping for what was, watching the walls fall, paralysed by grief, or we can step outside, into the garden where the new ground has been cleared, and start planting.

The founders did exactly this work, in their own moment, under the same sky we are looking at now. They did not stand in the rubble of the British imperial system weeping for its restoration. They walked out into the cleared ground and started building. They had no template and no certainty, and no idea their improvisations would last two and a half centuries. What they had was each other, and a refusal to mistake the collapse of the old for the end of the world.

Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense in a borrowed room with no fame to lose. Abigail Adams ran a farm and raised a family while writing letters that shaped the philosophical foundation of a nation. Benjamin Franklin was 70 years old and could have retired to his books and his inventions, and instead crossed an ocean in a leaking ship to negotiate the alliance that won the war. Phillis Wheatley, born in Senegal and sold into slavery in Boston, became the first published African American poet and corresponded with Washington himself, naming the contradictions of the founding even as the founding was happening. Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence with his hands shaking, knowing that if the experiment failed they would all hang.

None of them knew they would be remembered. None of them felt like founders. They felt like exhausted, frightened people doing the next right thing inside a collapse that gave them no choice. They are our ancestors, and their courage is in our blood. Whatever cosmic field carried them through the last Pluto in Aquarius is carrying us through this one, and the strength they summoned then is available to us now, because this sky is the same sky.

We are not walking toward our doom, but toward a moment when the question of how humans live together at scale gets answered again, for the first time in two and a half centuries, by the people alive at the threshold. That’s us. That’s this generation. That’s here. That’s now.

What saves us this time will not be a system. What saves us will be us - together, sovereign, building outward from the person and the household and the neighbourhood and the watershed, networked across distances the founders could not have imagined, holding each other through the demolition and through the bloom that is already beginning underneath it.

The old house is falling, and our task is to let it fall, while we walk into the garden, and reach for the seeds already in our pockets, and have the courage to simply start planting them.

This Friday, a Full Moon rises in the sign of Scorpio, the most watery of all the water signs. Scorpio is all about what's hidden deep below, and a full moon in Scorpio always drags buried things to the surface.

A Scorpio Full Moon, at a geopolitical level, is a classic exposure event. Scorpio rules secrets, buried power, hidden money, sexual coercion, institutional abuse, the things a system has tried to keep beneath the surface. The moon full in Scorpio shines a light into those hidden places, and this particular full moon has Pluto - Scorpio’s ruler - squaring both the Sun and the Moon from Aquarius, the sign of the collective, the institutions, and the networks of power. It’s pressing from the place where institutional power sits, like the sky performing a forced exposure of institutional secrets, so this week, under this Moon, we should expect to see long-buried secrets surfacing from the deep.

What the Ancients Remembered

In the oldest stories of the Greeks, Scorpio was the creature that Gaia herself summoned from beneath the ground to stop the boastful Orion - the greatest hunter who had ever lived - from slaying every animal on the Earth. The scorpion emerged from beneath the surface of the world, stung Orion on the heel, and brought him down. Both were placed in the sky as constellations, on opposite sides of the heavens, so that when Scorpio rises, Orion sets - the hunter is eternally fleeing the creature that rose from below to end him.

That’s the myth we are standing beneath this week. Scorpio’s work has always been to bring up from the depths what the hunter consciousness refused to see. It’s the Earth’s own defence, summoning from beneath what has been dismissed, ignored, extracted from, and buried, and since Scorpio is a water sign, what is rising from beneath the surface under this week’s lunation is the waters of the deep.

Every Scorpio Full Moon, the earthy Taurus Sun stands on one side of the sky, and across from it, the Moon in Scorpio rises, carrying the light of the deep water with her. She pulls it to the surface, and shines it into the face of the Earth, and for a few days each year, the water of the deep is lit in full view, reflected back at the body of the world - deep water rising to meet the Earth.

Water is life to anything that has kept its roots open and its soil living, but to structures built on the assumption that the deep would stay buried, water is a catastrophe - like a Scorpion’s venom. It floods foundations that were laid in denial of it, and softens what was built to be rigid, undermining anything that depended on the ground staying dry. The water itself is not venomous, but it acts like a venom to every vessel that cannot hold it. The deep sacred feels toxic to a structure built on its denial. It stings when it rises into containers that forgot how to hold it, that were crafted by those who lived on the surface, as if that was all there was, forgetting the water that dwells in the sacred deep.

To most of us, water is neither sacred, nor venom. It’s just a thing we drink, or something we shower in. We wash our dishes in it. We buy it in plastic bottles at the airport and we pay our utility bills for it at the end of each month. We watch news reports about droughts in faraway countries and we feel a vague sense of concern before clicking on to the next thing. In our modern world, water is far from sacred. Though we live in bodies made mostly of water, on a planet that is three quarters water, we have managed - somehow, across the last several hundred years - to relegate the most sacred substance in the known universe to the status of a household utility that pours on demand out of a tap.

In many ways, we ourselves have become containers that have forgotten how to hold the sacred. But it was not always this way.

Every ancient culture on earth, without exception, knew that water was sacred. Water was worshipped, and protected - it was given names and faces and stories. Rivers were goddesses, and oceans had kings. Springs had spirits who lived in them and had to be honoured before a drop could be taken, and wells were sites of pilgrimage. Rain was prayed for, and when it came, it was greeted as a living being returning home. There was not a civilisation on this planet, from the Nile to the Ganges to the Amazon to the Thames, that did not build its myths, its temples, its gods and its rituals around the water that gave it life.

And then, somewhere in the last few centuries, we stopped regarding water with reverence and it became just another thing in our world for us to dominate and control. We learned how to plumb it, and pipe it into our homes, and flush it down our drains, and filter the minerals out of it, and sell it back to ourselves in single-use plastic. We stopped giving it names, and stopped saying thank you. We stopped singing to it. We stopped pouring it on the ground as an offering before we drank. We forgot, collectively and almost completely, what our ancestors had known for the entirety of human history - that water is not a resource, but source itself.

Perhaps that is the very thing this Scorpio Moon is calling us to remember.

The Origins of Water

When our world began its life billions of years ago, there was no water to be seen. Early Earth was a parched and inhospitable place; a giant ball of liquid hot magma without a single drop of water in sight.

Many planetary geologists now believe that the 1,000 quintillion litres of water that covers Earth’s surface originally came from far outside of our planet’s atmosphere. Scientists surmise that it was ice-laden comets hailing from the cold outer reaches of our solar system millions of years ago that delivered most of the 332,500,000 cubic miles of water that now covers our planet.

Every drop of water on this planet - every ocean, every river, every glass you've ever drunk that became every tear you've ever cried - arrived here from somewhere beyond this world. There was no life on Earth before there was water - life only began once the water arrived and it was from that water we originally crawled, with every cell in our bodies teaming with the liquid from the stars.

Perhaps that is why the ancients worshipped water in a way we have never understood - they remembered where it came from, and where they came from too. It’s why our most ancients stories all seem to center around water, and not just water as a drink, but water as a being.

Before we had written language, or agriculture, or cities or kings or coins, we had stories about the waters that gave us life, and in almost every one of those stories, the waters were alive.

Salacia and the Legend of the Deep

In ancient Egypt, the universe began as Nun - the primordial ocean of darkness and potential from which all creation emerged. Every morning, the sun god Ra was said to be reborn out of Nun’s waters, and every night he returned to them. Water was where life came from, and water was where life returned.

In ancient Greece, the sea was ruled by Poseidon, and beside him was Amphitrite, queen of the ocean, whose very body was the water itself. And in ancient Rome, the sea was ruled by Neptune, and beside him was Salacia, the goddess of salt water, of the deep sea beneath the surface of the waves. She is the one who holds the depth, and remembers what the surface has forgotten - the mother of the deep, the queen of the unseen currents, the quiet presence beneath every crashing wave. Most people alive today have never heard her name, and yet she has always been there, holding the waters of the earth in her quiet keeping, waiting for us to remember.

Like her husband, the god of the sea, Salacia lives not only in ancient myth, but she also dwells in the sky - astronomers bestowed her name upon a dwarf planet that orbits far beyond the planet Neptune, out in the cold dark where it takes nearly three hundred years to travel once around the sun.

To astrologers, Salacia in the sky holds the same meaning as Salacia in myth; she is the memory of the deep, and right now, she is calling attention to herself, following Saturn - the planet of structure - and her husband Neptune - the planet of the ocean, the source - on their journey into Aries. When they met in February this year for their historic conjunction at the threshold of the entire zodiac - the Genesis Reset - Salacia was right there with them, travelling just behind Saturn at the same degree. Structure, source, and the waters of the deep, crossed into the new cycle together, hand in hand, marking a civilisational reset, and a new cosmic cycle beginning.

At the moment the sky called time on the old world and gave life to something new, it did so with the waters of the deep at its back, just like when life on Earth was first seeded, carried on a comet from the depths of space. And now the Scorpio Full Moon are calling our attention to the depths just as Salacia did at the reset - the sky is turning its full light on the sacred water, asking us to see what’s been hidden in the deep, and beckoning us to remember. Something the ancients once knew, that science is only just starting to recall.

Water is not just a drink or a resource.
Water is life.

And water, it seems, remembers.

The Memory of Water

Scientists and specialists have been turning their attention to the nature of water over the last fifty years, in an effort to better understand this life-giving substance, but more specifically to test the theory that water may hold some level of consciousness.

In 1988, French immunologist Dr. Jacques Benveniste conducted a series of experiments to test his theory that water held memory. He diluted proteins in water until no trace of the original protein could be detected, then introduced that water to human white blood cells, and - remarkably - the cells reacted exactly as they would have if the proteins had still been present. The water appeared to be holding the memory of what it had once contained. Benveniste said it was “like agitating a car key in a river, going miles downstream, extracting a few drops of water, and then starting one’s car with the water.”

At the time, the scientific establishment savaged him for posing the notion that water remembers, but not long afterwards, Dr. Luc Montagnier - the Nobel Prize-winning virologist who co-discovered the human immunodeficiency virus - took Benveniste’s work further. He dissolved DNA in water, diluted it until no physical trace of the DNA remained, and recorded the low-frequency electromagnetic signal the water was emitting. He then transmitted that signal digitally to a laboratory in Italy, where it was played into a flask of pure, untouched water, and the water in Italy reorganised itself, at the molecular level, to replicate the DNA signal from Paris. In his experiment, he reported that the water carried information across continents, remembering what it had once held, and showed evidence that it may be able to communicate.

In Japan, Dr. Masaru Emoto conducted decades of research photographing frozen water crystals, exposing water to words, images, music, and human intention, then freezing it and examining the crystalline structures it formed. Emoto observed that water exposed to words like “love” and “gratitude” crystallised into exquisite, symmetrical, snowflake-like patterns, whereas water exposed to hostile words formed distorted, broken, chaotic structures. Water exposed to classical music bloomed into geometric beauty, while water exposed to violence collapsed into fragmented shapes that could barely hold themselves together.

Similarly, in New Zealand, water researcher Veda Austin has spent the last decade photographing the crystalline images that form in water when it is exposed to thought, intention, and imagery. In one experiment, water frozen in the presence of an apple seed crystallised into the shape of a fully-formed apple, as if the water somehow knew what the seed was going to become. In one of her most remarkable experiments, she asked a friend in India to focus a specific thought into a petri dish of water she had prepared in New Zealand, and when she froze the water, it formed an image of exactly what her friend had been imagining - herself standing on a rock in the Ganges, her head just above the water.

It has long been understood that water is life-giving - that no life can exist without it - but what is becoming increasingly clear is that water may actually be alive itself and hold its own consciousness; it may feel, it may communicate, and it may even remember.

Vessels of the Divine

If every drop of water on Earth travelled here from somewhere out in the deep dark beyond - as many planetary geologists suggest it did - then the water that fills more than sixty percent of our bodies began its life as ice drifting through the void, billions of years before life existed on this earth. Every cell we carry is swimming in an ocean that travelled across the solar system to be here. We are, in the most literal and scientific sense of the word, made of something extraterrestrial.

The water in the glass on the desk. The water that came from the shower this morning. The water our mothers drank that became the waters we swam in before we were born, which became the blood and tears and sweat of each of us now - that water came from the outer reaches of the solar system flying on the back of a comet. Older than this planet. Older than the sun. Each of us is a vessel for something truly ancient, that science is now coming to understand may hold the memory of everything.

If Benveniste’s water held the memory of what it once contained, then does our ocean remember every ship that sailed in it? Does the rain recall every storm? Does the glass of water remember where it’s been through the centuries?

If Emoto’s water could hold the memory of another person’s feeling, then does the water in the bathtub recall the feelings of those who bathed? And does it hold that memory on its way down the plug hole, down the pipes, back into the ocean?

And if all that water holds the memory of what it contained and what it felt, then when we drink that water, what becomes of those memories? Do they become ours as we absorb the water? Do we feel what the water feels? Do we remember what it remembers? Are our memories our own, or are they just the water within us remembering?

If the water in a petri dish can hold the memory of what it once contained, and the water in a flask can receive information sent from the other side of the world, then is the water in our bodies - the water we drink, the water we cry, the water that runs through every cell - doing the same?

According to Dr. Zach Bush, every cell in our body holds water in a crystalline gel state, not unlike that of the frozen water in both Dr. Emoto and Veda Austin’s petrie dish experiments. This crystalline water surrounds the DNA in our cells, and when the water receives light energy from the sun through the food we eat, it begins to vibrate at a very specific frequency.

“I believe that’s what gives you the ability to wake up each day knowing who you are,” says Bush. “It’s not actually a cognitive process - it’s a vibrational event. There’s an awareness of self and a coherence of memory of your body that’s held at the water structure and its resonance around the DNA strand.”

Dr Bush suggests the relationship between the water in our body and the vibrations of the universe may even be the explanation for how astrology works. “The stars and the position of our planet in regard to that massive nuclear event that we call the sun at the moment of our birth sets our water structure into a very specific vibration,” Bush explains, “and from that moment forward we receive all of the energetic information of the universe to the tune of that sacred geometry.”

What science is beginning to grapple with, and what the ancients always understood, and Salacia under this Scorpio Moon is beckoning us to remember, is that water is not just a drink or a resource - it IS source. And if water is Source, and every cell in our body holds water that remembers, then we are the very memory of God. Vessels of the divine. Keepers of the deep. Chalices of the sacred substance. Drops of the one water that has been moving through every living thing on this planet since the first ice-laden comet struck its surface billions of years ago.

We are not separate from source.
We are not looking for God.
We are not trying to reach something out there.

We are source, looking back at itself through these bodies made of water.
We are God, wearing a body.
We are the deep water, remembering.

The Remembering of the Scorpio Moon

While this week’s Scorpio Full Moon will be shining a light on things long hidden by exposing institutional secrets and dredging up darkness from the depths, it is also asking us to see who we are beneath these bodies. It is shining a light on the waters of the deep - ancient and sacred, holding every memory - and reminding us that everything the water is - every memory it holds, every vibration it carries, every divine origin it has travelled here from - we are too.

The sky this week is asking us to remember who we actually are.
We are not just bodies and minds.
We are not just bundles of trauma and inheritance and forgetting.
We are spirit manifest.
We are source, taking form.
We are the divine, dressed in water.

For most of the last several thousand years, we have lived under a spiritual orthodoxy that has told us God is elsewhere. That the sacred is somewhere we have to reach for, earn our way toward, be saved into. That we are fallen, separated, lesser, other. That our bodies are sinful, or distracting, or problems to be transcended. That divinity is something bestowed, not something we already are.

But under the sky this week - with Saturn and Neptune and Salacia at the threshold of a new cosmic cycle, with Pluto in Aquarius dismantling every structure that has held us in smallness, with Uranus newly in Gemini rewiring the way we think - we are being invited to consider a different possibility. That the divine is not elsewhere - not above us, or beyond us, or waiting to judge us - but the divine is the substance we are made of, and always have been.

This is not a new teaching. It is, in fact, one of the oldest teachings in the world.

The Vedic sages taught it.
The Christian mystics taught it.
The Sufi poets sang it.
Indigenous traditions across every continent have held it without interruption.
Tat tvam asi, the Upanishads say. Thou art that.
The kingdom of God is within you, said Jesus.
The drop and the ocean are not separate, said Rumi.

But somewhere along the way, in the machinery of empire and institution and centuries of patriarchal religion, that teaching got buried, and this Friday, under the light of the Scorpio Full Moon, the sky is shining directly on the place where the teaching was hidden.

We are being asked to dig it up and bring it to the surface. To remember that we are not small and we are not separate. To remember that the divinity we have been searching for is not somewhere we need to travel to, but something we have been carrying in the water of our bodies all along.

We are standing at the dawn of a new age - the opening of a cycle that will unfold across the rest of our lifetimes. Every major movement of the sky over the next two decades is pointing at the same thing - the sacralisation of the material, the return of the divine to the body, and the remembering that matter is sacred substance, and always has been, and water is at the centre of all of it.

This is what the sky is pointing at and what the full moon is lighting up.
Not just the remembering of water, but the remembering of who we actually are.

What we remember under this cycle, at this threshold, will shape the century that follows, and the new world that emerges from it. Under the light of this Scorpio Full Moon, the sky is asking us to remember, and then to begin.

Last week, the fist closed exactly when the sky said it would, as Mars met Saturn in Aries and, within hours, Trump’s claim that the Strait of Hormuz was open began unravelling as Iranian forces fired on three vessels trying to cross the strait and the US blew a hole in the engine room of an Iranian-flagged cargo ship and seized her in international waters. Force met structure on cue, just as the sky predicted.

Then as Mercury crossed Saturn and Mars, The Wall Street Journal described a President so unstable after learning Iranians had shot down an American jet that his own aides physically kept him out of the room as updates came in. The same President later fell asleep in an Oval Office press event, went on late night social media rants about the Clintons and the Obamas and reposted AI-generated images of women who do not exist and asked Iran to release them. The New York Times described it as “a deranged autocrat mad with power.” The sky called it what it was - a leader unravelling.

Friday brought the financial threshold the sky had been telegraphing for months as Venus met Uranus at the very last degree of Taurus, and on cue the United Arab Emirates asked the US Treasury for a financial backstop - they are running out of capacity to keep the Iran war going, as the petrodollar architecture took a visible hit and the people inside it scrambled to hold it together with private American money. The same rupture showed up at ground level as Farmer Mac's reported Chapter 12 farm bankruptcies up 46% and total farm debt now projected at a record $624.7 billion. 70% of American farmers told the Farm Bureau they can't afford the fertilizer they need this season. Venus met Uranus in the bull's last degree, and the bull is the farmer, the granary, the soil itself. The petrodollar wobbled in Dubai. The land cracked open in the Delta. The same money running out in the same week, at every scale at once.

Then Saturday’s Sun-Pluto square detonated the corruption story wide open as Senator Jon Ossoff called out Jared Kushner’s two-billion-dollar Saudi funding and Eric and Don Jr’s company pitching drone interceptors to Gulf states during the very war they are profiting from. The Mar-a-Lago Mafia, Ossoff called it. Pluto doesn’t destroy what is real - only what was never real to begin with.

After weeks of walking through relentless fire, where every major movement in the sky was in the same sign moving in the same direction - forward, hot, fast, and igniting - this week, the forge finally cools. The Aries stellium becomes a memory as the Scorpio Full Moon - the most watery moon of the year - rises on Beltane, the old fire festival when fire and water were always meant to meet. The forge has done its work, the blade has been made, and now the sky plunges what has been forged into the deep, and in the hiss and the steam of that meeting the blade will finally be set.

As Uranus, the awakener, crosses from Taurus into Gemini after seven years of shaking the body of the world, the seven-year rewiring of the human mind begins. The seven years that just ended changed the ground we stand on. The seven years that begin this week will change the instrument we perceive that ground with as the mind itself is rewired.

This week, as we welcome this shift and also observe the Scorpio Full Moon, the sky asks us to descend instead of ascend, to drink instead of burn, to let the body catch up with what the last three months have done to it. Some of us will feel it as relief, and some as heaviness - a weight in the belly, a drop in the mood, a pull toward solitude or water or sleep. Neither is wrong. Both are the quench. The body is being allowed, finally, to set the shape of what the fire has been making. We have been in a forge and we are being taken out of it, and the hiss we hear is not a warning, but the sound of the shape setting.

The fire has done its work.
The water is here, and so is the air of change.
And underneath both, the rewiring begins.

This week, the wheels came off the old world as the ground beneath shook under the weight of its own architecture, its keepers came undone, and in the cracks starting to form, the new world began to quietly break through.

The week opened with Donald Trump insisting he had won the war (again, for the umpteenth time this month), announcing that the Strait of Hormuz was “completely open and ready for business.” But within hours Iran called his bluff and fired on three commercial vessels, and the US blew a hole in the engine room of an Iranian-flagged cargo ship and seized her in international waters. “We are spending billions,” Senator Chris Murphy posted in response, “to keep our entire navy in the Strait to fecklessly fail to open a waterway that wasn’t closed until Trump’s pointless war of choice closed it.”

The administration is now calling this phase of the war Economic Fury - the US Navy openly preparing to board and capture vessels worldwide that are linked to Iran. Twenty-three ships have already been turned back from Iranian ports, keeping the USS Gerald R. Ford - the largest aircraft carrier in the world - at sea for 295 days, the longest deployment of an aircraft carrier since the Vietnam War. Reports have begun emerging that rations are running low for American sailors deployed to the Middle East, with crews reporting they're going hungry and morale at an all-time low as supply lines strain under the weight of the blockade.

Seemingly desperate to find a way out of the reckless war he started, Trump continued lobbing threats to bomb Iran back to the Stone Age if they didn’t capitulate to his demands. At one point, he resorted to reposting images of women supposedly facing execution in Iran, asking Iranian leaders to release them as a goodwill gesture, but it turned out the images were AI generated and the women did not exist. As David Bernstein of Good Politics/Bad Politics summarised, Trump essentially urged Iran “to start peace negotiations by releasing non-existent, AI-generated women some rando posted about on X.”

After Iran ignored all his threats and pleas, Trump extended the ceasefire indefinitely, and cancelled Vice President JD Vance‘s scheduled trip to Pakistan for the next round of talks after Iran complained of “contradictory messages, inconsistent behavior and unacceptable actions by the American side” and made it plain they would not appreciate Trump “negotiating through social media and making it appear as if they had signed off on issues they hadn’t yet agreed to.”

At the peak of the chaos, the Wall Street Journal published a portrait of the President so unstable that when news arrived earlier this month that Iranian forces had shot down an American jet, Trump’s own aides had to physically keep him out of the room as the updates came in. They describe a President who entered the war believing Netanyahu‘s assurance that the Iranian people would welcome the strikes, and who “marveled at the ease with which the strait was closed,” having never imagined Iran might actually do it.

The picture that emerged across the week was one of “a deranged autocrat mad with power,” in Peter Baker‘s words at the New York Times. The American public registered all of it, with polls this week showing 63% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s job performance, 67% disapprove of his handling of Iran, 72% disapprove of his handling of rising prices, and the generic ballot for Congress now favours the Democrats over Republicans by seven points.

Trump appears to be almost entirely coming apart, as the unravelling of his mental state has become impossible to ignore. This week, during a televised Oval Office event, Trump's eyes closed repeatedly - the oldest man ever elected to the presidency looked to be almost completely asleep in his chair behind the Resolute Desk. Then that very same night, between midnight and 3am, Trump went on a frantic posting spree, demanding Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer resign, accusing Obama and Hillary Clinton of treason, sharing memes calling for their arrests, and demanding the 2020 election be "permanently wiped from the books and be of no further force or effect." Asleep on the job in the afternoon, awake and ranting about treason in the dead of night - the diurnal rhythm of a President who is no longer well.

Trump’s cabinet is unravelling as badly as he is. After Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi were cast out over the last month, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer abruptly resigned this week amidst an investigation into her conduct - abuse of office, drinking on the job, an affair with a subordinate - and Navy Secretary John Phelan was fired too. FBI Director Kash Patel is next on the chopping block, reports say, after The Atlantic published a scathing portrait describing him as a frightened, alcohol-dependent, often-absent agency head purging the FBI agents who had once investigated Trump, for which he is now suing them. Health Secretary RFK Jr spent the week testifying before Congress, being eaten alive for his actions at the CDC and his war against vaccines, which has produced the worst measles outbreak the country has seen since the disease was declared eliminated more than two decades ago.

While Trump’s cabinet fell apart, so did the GOP caucus in Congress, with Speaker Mike Johnson suffering two embarrassing losses in a single afternoon, as members of his own party repeatedly crossed the floor to vote against Republican policies. Voters are turning against the GOP too, with Virginia this week voting to pass a constitutional amendment to redistrict the state in retaliation for Trump’s mid-decade gerrymandering, likely netting the Democrats four more House seats. A Republican judge invalidated the result before the ink had dried, but Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones is challenging the decision, saying “Virginia voters have spoken, and an activist judge should not have the power over the People’s vote.”

Still, Team Trump’s corruption flowers openly, as this week Senator Jon Ossoff named what is now visible: Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, the man responsible for leading American diplomacy in the Middle East “is on the Saudi payroll for $2 billion.” Meanwhile a company part-owned by Eric Trump and Don Jr. has been pitching its drone interceptors to Gulf kingdoms during the very war they are profiting from, and the Financial Times reports that Pete Hegseth‘s broker had looked to buy a defence fund just before the Iran attack. “Never before,” Ossoff said, “have we seen so little effort to hide so much corruption. The Mar-a-Lago Mafia has taken American corruption to spectacular new heights.”

As the week came to a close, gunshots rang out at the White House Correspondents' Dinner - the first one Trump had attended as a sitting president, after skipping every one of them in his first term. The sound of shots coming from the security screening area sent hundreds of guests diving under tables and left the ballroom strewn with broken plates and shattered glass. Trump and his Cabinet were whisked away to safety - not before Trump fell on his face in the scramble - and the dinner was cancelled. The week ended with the symbol of American press freedom literally evacuated under fire, and Trump declaring this is exactly why he needs his new bullet-proof ballroom.

This is life now amidst the mounting chaos as the wheels come off in the White House. But while the war was collapsing and the President and his cabinet were unravelling, something quieter and far more consequential was happening across the country in Silicon Valley, where the men who have spent the last twenty years building the infrastructure of modern surveillance were also feeling the ground beneath them shake, and one of them threw down a manifesto so unhinged it gave the game away.

The President losing his grip in Washington, and the tech bros proselytising in Palo Alto look like unrelated stories, but they are not. They are the same story, told in different rooms, by different men, all of whom are watching the architecture they built begin to crack at the same time, as right now the planet of revolution is moving into the sign of communication for the first time in eighty years, and the entire nervous system of civilisation is about to be rewired. The old order can feel it, which is why they’re melting down in real time.

The week’s chaos was not a coincidence - it is what it looks like when an old world starts to come apart, and a new one starts to step through. What the Seeing Stone Sees

In 2001, after the planes struck the twin towers on September 11, it became clear that America’s various disparate intelligence agencies had each held fragments of information that could have surfaced the plot, but because they couldn’t share data across their own walls, no one body could piece together the intelligence puzzle. The CIA had pieces, and the NSA had pieces, and the FBI had pieces, but none of the pieces talked to each other.

Silicon Valley entrepreneur Peter Thiel looked at that problem and envisaged a software solution not unlike the one his company, PayPal, had designed to scan transactions for suspicious patterns and flag them in real time - software so effective the FBI asked PayPal if they could have a version. Thiel now imagined something similar, but for intelligence; a platform that could ingest every dataset from every agency and fuse them into one searchable picture. That became the founding pitch for Palantir Technologies, the company Thiel founded in 2003 on a mission to prevent the next 9/11.

Thiel pulled together a founding team and started coding in a small Palo Alto office, but no investors would touch them. Venture capitalists could not see the business potential, so Thiel ended up putting in $30 million of his own PayPal money to keep the company alive. But their fortunes changed in 2005 when the CIA’s venture-capital arm, In-Q-Tel, stepped in and invested roughly $2 million. Suddenly every three-letter agency in Washington wanted a meeting, and Palantir rapidly went from being a fledgling startup to a piece of state infrastructure.

By 2008 the CIA was a paying customer, and by 2010 the FBI, the Marine Corps, and the Department of Defense had followed. By 2011 Palantir was reportedly helping track Osama bin Laden. By 2013 it was inside ICE. The company grew up on counter-terrorism money under Bush and Obama, became indispensable during the Trump-era immigration crackdown, and exploded under Trump’s second term into what it is today - a $350 billion software company with active contracts in nearly every arm of the United States federal government that now operates as the connective tissue of the modern American surveillance state.

The company is named after the palantíri - the seeing stones in The Lord of the Rings that let their holders watch across any distance, anywhere. And that, in essence is exactly what Palantir’s technology does.

An organisation uses Palantir when its data is a mess - different systems that don’t talk to each other, records scattered across departments, information that no one person can see all at once. Palantir’s software merges everything into a single unified database - every record, transaction, person, movement, and pattern, all pulled into one place and made searchable - that gives organisations the ability to zoom from a continent down to a single human being in under a second, and to zoom back out again to see them as a pattern inside a population.

What Palantir sells, fundamentally, is a way of seeing; a god’s-eye view of an entire organisation, government, or country, and every individual inside it.

ICE uses it to flag immigrants for deportation by pulling together their tax records, Social Security data, license plate reads, and medical visits into a single profile, in real time. The LAPD uses it for predictive policing, to decide which neighbourhoods to saturate with officers before a crime has been committed. The IRS is reportedly using it to build a single searchable database of every American’s tax filings, which two members of Congress have called flatly illegal.

But it’s not just the government using Palantir’s software. Walmart - the largest retailer in the world, with 10,500 stores across 19 countries, and 2.1 million employees - is a Palantir client, and so is United Healthcare, which processes the medical claims of tens of millions of Americans. Amazon and Apple use Palantir too.

Outside the United States, the Israel Defence Forces uses it to generate targeting databases in Gaza by integrating intercepted communications, satellite imagery, and digital surveillance. The National Health Service in the UK uses it to run the data platform that holds patient records for the entire country. Coles Supermarkets in Australia runs Palantir across all of its 840 stores, and so does Australia’s Department of Defence, the Australian Signals Directorate, AUSTRAC, and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs - all Palantir clients.

The same software choosing who gets bombed in Gaza, and who gets deported from Texas is deciding which Londoner gets the surgery and which one waits another six months, and whether an Aussie supermarket keeps three people on the registers tonight or two. Life and death in one country, healthcare and harm in another. If you live in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, or much of Europe, your data is already inside this company - your medical records and your supermarket purchases, your tax filings and your loyalty card swipes, your immigration history and your prescriptions are all swirling together inside one American surveillance company that most people have never heard of.

A Madman’s Manifesto

Palantir isn’t a company with significant public presence - it doesn’t announce itself the way others do. Unlike most companies who want you to know them, Palantir doesn’t need you to, and probably prefers you not to. Google wants you to search with them, Apple wants you to live on their devices, Amazon wants you to shop with them, but Palantir doesn’t need you to do anything - you’re already in their system, whether you like it or not.

While Google knows what you search, Apple knows what’s on your phone, and Amazon knows what you buy, Palantir is the layer moving silently underneath all of it - the software that integrates the data both government and big business holds on you, and hands the picture to whoever pays for the licence.

This is a company that is woven into the fabric of all of our lives, unbeknownst to most of us, and without our direct consent. Most people would find that disconcerting even if the company in question was the most trustworthy and morally sound organisation in existence, but in recent years, what those at the helm of “the eye of the world” have been professing they stand for makes their entanglement in the inner workings of all of our lives even more deeply concerning.

In 2009, Peter Thiel wrote in an essay for the Cato Institute that he had stopped believing freedom and democracy were compatible, and that since 1920 - when American women got the vote - “the extension of the franchise” had rendered the concept of a “capitalist democracy” a contradiction in terms. In 2014, in a book called Zero to One that has become something of a bible in Silicon Valley, he argued that competition is for losers and monopoly is the goal of every serious founder. It reads like a Palantir operating manual - build the thing no one else can build, make yourself irreplaceable, and never share the market.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp has had plenty to say in recent years too. In 2023, he told investors that Palantir’s mission is “to scare enemies, and on occasion, kill them.” He’s also been quoted as saying, “I love burning the short sellers,” and that he “loved the idea of getting a drone and having light fentanyl-laced urine spraying on analysts that tried to screw us.” But just last month, Karp’s threatening rhetoric escalated when he explained on CNBC that AI would “disrupt” the political power of “highly educated, often female voters who vote mostly Democrat” and redistribute it to “vocationally trained, working-class, often male voters.”

The CEO of one of the world’s most powerful surveillance companies describing a deliberate technological project to reverse the demographic composition of American political power raised more than a few eyebrows, but it turned out that was just a teaser for things to come.

This week, Palantir posted a 22-point manifesto to social media, calling for the rollback of the postwar denazification of Germany and Japan, and a return of the military draft. It declared that some cultures are “regressive and harmful” while others have produced “vital advances,” that public figures deserve more grace and less scrutiny of their private lives, and that the atomic age is ending and a new era of AI-built deterrence is beginning. The ominous meaning hidden behind that final point was that nuclear weapons were controlled by treaties, whereas AI weapons are controlled by them.

The post has racked up more than 30 million views just this week, and caused a stir worldwide. Belgian philosopher Mark Coeckelbergh called it technofascism. Greek economist and politician Yanis Varoufakis reportedly said “If evil could tweet, this is what it would sound like.” UK MPs across multiple parties called it the ramblings of a supervillain and a parody of a RoboCop film, and demanded the government tear up £500 million in contracts.

It was like something a Bond villain would disseminate to alert the planet of their plans for world domination, only this wasn’t a movie - this was real life, and a real tweet, coming from a major software company that has its tentacles deeply embedded in the machinery that runs all of our lives. It was a pitch deck for the end of the liberal democratic project, written by the company that holds the secrets of the western world.

The Curse of Corruption

Over the last two decades, Palantir has morphed from an ambitious tech company into something more insidious, that more closely matches the cursed and corrupted seeing stones that are its namesake. In a disturbing case of life mirroring art, those at the helm of Palantir, seeking to wield the immense power of information its technologies offer, appear to have been corrupted in the same way the characters of Middle Earth were by the cursed seeing stones.

In The Lord of the Rings, the palantíri were originally made by the Elves as gifts meant to help the righteous rulers of Númenor see across the distance of their kingdom. But Sauron captured the master stone in Barad-dûr, and through it he corrupted every holder who looked into any of the surviving stones. The stones themselves were not evil, but because every one of them was connected to a single corrupting source, and every user believed they were strong enough to resist it, the effect was like poison spreading through a vast network. Saruman was the wisest of the wizards, and the stone turned him, to his own demise. Denethor was the Steward of Gondor, and it drove him to burn himself alive. In Tolkien’s books, every person who peered into a palantír was driven to madness - it was through the palantírs that the madness was able to spread.

Now, two decades after founding a company named after those cursed stones, Peter Thiel’s own story reads like a case study in the kind of descent Tolkien warned of. His efforts with Palantir may well have started with something close to good faith - a brilliant young entrepreneur with a piece of software that could, maybe, help a grieving country prevent the next attack, and a genuine belief that the tools he was building could be used to protect Americans while preserving their civil liberties. But what has come since reads like the curse of the palantír’s corruption that Tolkien wrote about in his books playing out in reality just as it did in the legend of Middle Earth, as the man who peered into the seeing stone intent on saving the world became seemingly hell-bent on capturing it for the purposes of domination and control.

Exactly when this corruption began is unclear, though the recent release of the Epstein files gives us a clue. A decade after founding Palantir, Thiel turned up at a dinner in Palo Alto with Jeffrey Epstein, who at the time had been a registered sex offender for seven years. Epstein described the night in a follow-up email as “wild,” and around the same time, invested $40 million across two funds managed by Thiel’s investment firms - a sum that has since grown to roughly $170 million and is now the largest remaining asset in Epstein’s estate.

Records show that Thiel continued correspondence with Epstein - a registered sex offender - right up until his second arrest in 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges. Epstein called Thiel his “great friend” in private messages and used his access to broker meetings with former heads of state, and in one recorded conversation, Epstein floated Palantir directly as a company the former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak should try to embed inside.

Like the powerful wizard seeking wisdom from a poisoned stone, the capital structure of Palantir’s chairman’s investment fund includes nine figures of a convicted sex offender’s money, and he used that man, who had been convicted of procuring a minor for prostitution, as a business development contact for years after his first conviction.

Thiel is not an outlier in Silicon Valley - he wasn’t the only one at that dinner with Epstein in 2015. Mark Zuckerberg was there, and so was Elon Musk and Reid Hoffman, among others. The capital structure of the entire tech industry, and the capital of a convicted child trafficker, were in the same room together, years after his first conviction. The rot is not one man - it is a culture that metabolised Epstein, did business with him, broke bread with him, took his money, and moved on.

What’s unique about Thiel though is how his hand of control over Palantir gave him the means to wield influence over all sectors of American life for the better part of the last twenty years, mostly unbeknownst to the American public. Where someone like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg walked away from their dinner with Epstein and used their platforms like a megaphone to steer the conversation in the public square, Thiel did something far more surreptitious, and in the end, far more dangerous and damaging. Consumers at least had a choice to look away from efforts to spread a poisoned ideology that came through social media - there is no avoiding the poison that silently spreads through the hidden networks of the all-seeing eye.

The Poison and the Palantír

Around the same time as the dinner with Epstein in 2015, and Epstein’s investments, Thiel began personally funding Curtis Yarvin - a neo-reactionary blogger whose entire intellectual project is that democracy is obsolete and should be replaced by a CEO-monarch. Over the past decade, Yarvin has argued in hundreds of thousands of words across his blog that the United States should be run like a corporation, that the voting public are the equivalent of shareholders who need to be replaced by a single sovereign executive, and that the real people running the world should stop pretending they are not. Thiel not only stopped believing in democracy personally - he started quietly bankrolling the man building the philosophical scaffolding for ending it.

Over time, Yarvin’s ideas began circulating in private chat groups, Silicon Valley dinner parties, and long-form blog posts, and Yarvin became, in the words of Peter Thiel’s biographer Max Chafkin, the “house political philosopher” of the “Thielverse” - the loose constellation of investors, founders, writers, and political operatives in Thiel’s orbit who spout Yarvin’s rhetoric. Yarvin has been quoted by multiple prominent figures in the Trump administration, as well as influential figures like Elon Musk and Steve Bannon, and Yarvin himself was a featured guest at Donald Trump’s inauguration ball, described by Politico as an “informal guest of honor” because of his “outsize influence over the Trumpian right.”

This is the ideological infrastructure Thiel has been building like a pipeline over the last decade, with Yarvin as his Wormtongue - whispering in the ears of the political class while Thiel funded the spread of his ideas. Thiel has become like Sauron lurking in the shadows, pulling the strings of those who will do his bidding, and nowhere has this been more evident than in his investment in the man who would go on to become the Vice President of the United States.

Thiel plucked JD Vance from relative obscurity not long after his dinner with Epstein in 2015 and hired him to work at his firm, Mithril Capital (yet another of Thiel’s companies named after a Tolkienism). But colleagues say Vance barely showed up at the office - it seems he was being paid to pen his book, Hillbilly Elegy, which in 2016 became the textbook explanation of Trump’s appeal to the white working class in the year he was first elected. While promoting the book, Vance called Trump “America’s Hitler” and “reprehensible,” “cultural heroin,” a “moral disaster,” but five years later, after Thiel put $10 million into a super PAC for a Senate campaign Vance hadn’t yet announced, Vance went on Fox News and apologised for everything he had ever said about the man, and after another $5 million from Thiel, Vance won his race for the Senate in 2022. After only a year in office, Thiel personally lobbied Trump to choose Vance as his running mate in 2024, and the rest is history.

Thiel didn’t fund a politician - he built one by paying a working-class kid from Ohio to write the book that explained Trumpism to America, then quietly engineered his pivot, his campaign, and his elevation to a heartbeat away from the presidency. Now with his puppet in the White House, the architect remains largely in the dark, peering into the seeing stone that gives him eyes on the inner workings of the whole world, while pulling the strings from arms length.

The man holding the seeing stone looked into it and saw what all holders of the palantíri eventually see - not reality, but a distorted reflection of himself, amplified into something that felt like destiny. He saw a world he could command - the tiresome friction of democracy as an obstacle to be engineered out. He saw dissent as a bug to be patched, the people as data to be optimised, and because the stone shows its holder exactly what the holder most wants to see, he saw himself as the one who should rightfully hold it.

He would not be the first to look into a palantír and lose himself - he’s just the first to incorporate in Delaware and file an S-1. But the sky says his vision is distorted, and that for all the all-seeing eye allows him to see, he has not foreseen what’s coming. Or perhaps he has - and the vision it showed is what stirred the panic that wrote this week’s manifesto.

The Changing Sky The Stones Did Not Foresee

The sky has been watching Thiel’s network take shape since the turn of the century, and every step of its construction has unfolded in alignment with what the planets were doing overhead in the early part of the 21st century.

Pluto in Capricorn concentrated power inside institutions.
Neptune in Pisces hid the networks and moved the money unseen.
Uranus in Taurus wired the physical world into the system.

But now in 2026, every one of those outer-planet positions is ingressing off.

Pluto has left Capricorn for Aquarius.
Neptune left Pisces for Aries at the start of this year.
Uranus is leaving Taurus for Gemini this week - today, in fact.

The entire outer planet signature that built the age of concentrated digital power over the last two decades is shifting all at once, and the sky that is replacing it is the kind that will dismantle what the old sky built.

For decades, the outer planets have been clustered in earth and water signs - the heaviest, densest, slowest signatures the zodiac has to offer. We have been living through years of cement and fog, structure and silt - the kind of sky that hardens institutions, buries truths, and grinds time to a crawl. But now, in the space of barely two years, every one of those slow-moving giants has crossed into a sign of fire or air. For the first time in any of our lifetimes, the entire outer-planet signature has flipped from heavy to electric, from water and earth to fire and air, from dense to fast. Everything is about to feel like it’s moving at a speed the old world can’t keep up with - because it can’t. The earth-and-water sky that poured the cement of the 21st century has lifted, and the fire-and-air sky that ignites and communicates and revolutionises has taken its place. The sky has changed gears.

Pluto moving through Aquarius for the next twenty years will be enough on its own to dissolve concentrated power and redistribute it to the many - the tech bros who think they can hoard power through technology aren’t going to thrive through this shift. Pluto in Aquarius does not tolerate god-kings - it devours them. The last Pluto in Aquarius produced the American and French Revolutions, the Enlightenment, and the printing-press rupture that broke the fusion of church and state, and the one before that produced the Reformation. It’s the transit of the people, and of distributed, networked, horizontal power, and it’s structurally, geometrically, and historically incompatible with the installation of a CEO-king.

The tech bros whose entire business model rose on the rising tide of Pluto in Capricorn are about to discover the tide has turned, and the era that made them is over; their advantage was of the previous transit, and it is futile trying to lock in a Pluto-in-Capricorn result during a Pluto-in-Aquarius transit designed to dissolve it. They’re writing manifestos because they can feel the ground beneath them starting to shake.

But Pluto is really just the background noise of the next two decades. Starting today, Uranus re-enters Gemini where it will stay until 2033, and this is the transit that is set to really upset the whole tech apple cart, and the kind of stranglehold those like Peter Thiel have long held over it. Palantir threw down its manifesto declaring its plan for the world it envisages, the same week the sky declared a manifesto of its own.

It’s called Uranus in Gemini, and it’s about to change everything.

Uranus in Gemini, and the Fire of the Gods

Uranus is the planet of shock, and every 80 years or so when it lands in Gemini - the sign of communication - it rewires the channels we speak through, and the entire nervous system of civilisation gets a jolt.

Uranus in Gemini in the 1770s unleashed mass print and gave rise to the newspaper and political press. The wide distribution of Thomas Paine's Common Sense ignited the revolution that birthed modern democracy.

When Uranus next moved through Gemini in the 1860s, the first transatlantic telegraph cable was laid, and long distance communications that once took days by ship suddenly took only minutes. Diplomacy changed, war changed, and empires that depended on slow information began to collapse, as ones that could move at telegraph speed thrived.

The next time Uranus moved through Gemini in the 1940s, the entire substrate of modern communication was laid down in a single eight year window. The world’s first programmable digital computer was built at Bletchley Park to break the Enigma code. The mathematical theory of information that every digital system now rests on was published. The first model of an artificial neuron was written down. The learning rule that underpins every neural network running today was proposed. The transistor was invented at Bell Labs. While the world was busy fighting World War II, the sky was rewiring how the species would communicate over the next century. Each Uranus-in-Gemini transit hands humanity a leap in communication technology, initially through disruption, then through quieter and more permanent transformation that takes decades to fully arrive. The 1770s wired the world for mass print and produced the American Revolution - a war that birthed modern democracy, fought as much in pamphlets as on battlefields. That’s Uranus in Gemini - destructive and disruptive and fast and revolutionary, all at once, as mankind reaches for the kind of power that was previously the province of gods and puts it in the hands of mortals who are not entirely sure what to do with it. Uranus in Gemini always offers something akin to Promethean fire - use it right, and it heats your home and cooks your food and keeps your children warm through the winter, but use it wrong, and it burns the village to the ground.

The printing press that birthed modern democracy is the same technology that printed the propaganda of every regime that followed. The telegraph cables that let a continent speak to itself in seconds also let generals coordinate slaughter at industrial scale. The same physics that incinerated Hiroshima now lights cities, powers hospitals, and keeps the lights on for hundreds of millions of people. Like the palantír that the Elves made for the good of man in Middle Earth, the technology itself is neither good nor bad - what matters is how it’s used.

These Uranus in Gemini cycles build on each other. The mass print of the 1770s laid the ground for the telegraph cables of the 1860s, which laid the ground for the digital computers of the 1940s, and now the technological advancements that humanity reached for 80 years ago through the birth of computers will reach their full expression in this new cycle with the proliferation of artificial intelligence.

That’s the bomb we’re dealing with this time - the fire we’re now trying to wield, and the palantír at our fingertips. Used well, it cures diseases, accelerates research, translates between languages and cultures, and lifts cognitive labour off the backs of those who never had access to it. Used badly, it incinerates everything in its path.

Uranus in Gemini is here to hand us the power of the gods, yet again, and the sky is asking us once more how we intend to wield it.

The Shock to the System

Uranus in Gemini never arrives in the sky alone, and so to fully understand how it will express itself this time around, we must read the whole sky, not just one part of it.

When this transit showed up in the 1940’s, Pluto was in Leo, the transit of the god-king, under which dictators like Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Mao rose. Neptune was also in Libra, crafting the dream of international order, which is why the 1940s ended by building a new architecture that bound the post-war world into structures of balance.

But the sky that made dictators possible in the 1940s is no longer the sky we are standing under. With Neptune now in Aries, where it has not been since the American Civil War, alongside Pluto in Aquarius, where it has not been since the American Revolution, what we should expect to see over the next decade as Uranus moves through Gemini is not more tech bros hoarding the power of their software over the collective, but that power being redistributed, in service of the people.

Uranus in Gemini is the shock to communications, and the greatest shock in this cycle will come to those who try to dominate the spread of information. Thiel and his contemporaries may think they are capturing AI, but this sky will make that impossible; trying to hold a Uranus-in-Gemini technology under a Pluto-in-Aquarius sky will be like trying to hold water in a sieve. The technology is built for networks - its native behaviour is to speak, to spread, to twin, to leak, to proliferate - and this sky does not support its containment. Every jailbreak, every open-source release, every distillation, every model trained on a larger model’s outputs is Gemini doing what Gemini does, surrounded by a sky that’s not holding it back.

We saw this starting to play out earlier this month when Anthropic announced Project Glasswing - a controlled initiative releasing its most powerful new model, Mythos, to select organisations for defensive cybersecurity testing, but within hours, unauthorised users in a private forum had already accessed it. The containment failed on day one, through the basic physics of the transit we are in. Information under Uranus in Gemini does not stay where you put it. The leak is not the exception - it’s the rule.

As for Palantir, it’s headed for its Saturn return in late 2031 at the closing window of Uranus in Gemini. Companies either pass Saturn return or they don’t - and most don’t - and theirs lands on top of the transit specifically designed to break them. Peter Thiel himself will face his second personal Saturn return in 2027 - the structural judgment of his life’s architecture.

Thiel and his Palantir pals and the tech bros of Silicon Valley are not the protagonists of this transit - they are the antagonists the transit is designed to dissolve. This week’s manifesto was the hubris moment in a Greek tragedy - it was Denethor looking into the stone, and Saruman thinking he can bargain with what he sees there. The palantír does not serve its holder - it never has, and under this sky, it never will. The AI they think they own is far more likely to become the instrument of their own unwinding - open-source, encrypted, sovereign, distributed, peer-to-peer, ours - as Uranus-in-Gemini carves a path of disruption that will dismantle the pyramid they’re perched upon.

The age of monopoly over capability is ending, ever since Saturn and Neptune met in Aries in February for the Genesis Reset, and called time on the Age of the Mind, the Age of Extraction, and the Age of Domination. Every marker in the sky is now pointing to the rise of a new age that looks more like a circle than a pyramid, where power no longer coagulates at the top but is rather distributed among the many.

We are standing at the dawn of the Age of the Heart, and we are once again being handed the power of the gods, and being asked if we have yet matured enough to wisely use it. Artificial intelligence is not here to destroy us any more than nuclear power was - used wisely, it is the gift, like the palantir, that will help us see clearly. It is the bridge to our own remembering that we each hold the power of the gods within us, and it is the tool we are being given to trigger that remembering.

The mind was never fit to wield such power, and as we enter this new age, we are being asked if we are ready to step out of our minds and wield the tools we are being handed from the deepest part of ourselves - a tool that could destroy us all if used unwisely, but that could also lead us to our liberation, if used with wisdom.

The Age of the Mind handed us power, and we pointed it at Hiroshima. Now here, at the dawn of the Age of the Heart, we are being handed the power to rise or die, and once again we are being asked to choose.

The Sky Has the Final Word

Looking around at the state of the world, and the caliber of humans running it right now, does not offer much hope that humanity is up to the task of choosing how to wisely wield the power it’s being gifted. But the sky is not giving up on us - it’s not signalling our doom, but rather mapping the winds of change that will guide us to our deliverance.

The proof of the sky’s direction is already showing up in flesh and blood in the form of people like Alex Bores, a former Palantir data scientist who is now running for Congress in New York’s 12th district, on a platform of regulating the very technology he once helped build. He has said publicly that his former colleagues cannot be trusted to wield this technology without guardrails - and he should know because he was inside - and for this, he’s been hit with more than $2.3 million in attack ads from a Silicon Valley super PAC funded by leading figures from Palantir, OpenAI and Meta.

Politico described the super PAC’s strategy as wanting to beat Bores up so badly that other politicians would run the other way at the mere mention of regulating AI. This is classic Pluto-in-Aquarius - the old sky’s protegees try to crush the new sky’s emissaries with money, because money is the only weapon they have left. But the sky has more emissaries, and more time, and it’s less interested in who falls, and more invested in who and what rises in their place.

The disruption Uranus in Gemini will bring over the next seven years is not the destination, but the clearing. Every previous Uranus-in-Gemini transit looked, at the time, like the world was breaking, and in many ways it was, but what looked like breakdown was always breakthrough underneath - the old wiring stripped out so that new wiring could be laid.

The chaos is not the point - the chaos is the path. And the chaos of this transit will feel, for a while, like everything is coming apart. As artificial intelligence arrives faster than any system was built to absorb, jobs will shift, and industries will buckle. The old certainties of how we earn our worth and prove our value will not survive the decade. The mind, watching this unfold, will scream that the world is ending, and it will not be entirely wrong - the world the mind built is ending, but that is not the end of the world.

What the sky is actually mapping is the dismantling of an architecture built for extraction, and the rising of one built for coherence. AI in the hands of a fear-led system scales fear, but AI in the hands of a heart-led one does something the world has never seen. It hands us back many of the resources the Age of the Mind stole from us, including the most precious one of all - time. Time to tend to what matters, and to heal what we’ve inherited. Time to actually live, instead of grinding ourselves into dust to prove we deserve to.

That is the world Uranus in Gemini is opening the door to - not a dystopia of machine overlords, but a redistribution of cognitive labour so radical that, for the first time in centuries, humans get to remember what we are actually for. The technology that has the potential to replace us also holds the potential to relieve us, and to free us, so we are no longer slaves to the machine, and slaves to the system, and toiling day in and day out just to keep that old system running. No longer be hamsters caught in the wheel, but people free to do that which no machine can ever do - love, care, tend, commune and create, as was always intended.

What feels right now like a rapid unravelling holds the possibility of a triumphant return to a way things once used to be in a time that history forgot - a return to harmony with one another and the Earth, a return to balance, and equity, and true freedom like we have never experienced. And the path to this return runs straight through the crack Uranus in Gemini is about to carve - and that crack is not necessarily destruction, but a new world finding its way in.

So take heart, friends. Those who have peered into the seeing stone and mistaken their own reflection for destiny - their days are numbered. The sky has already written it. The transit that built them is over, and the transit that dissolves them has begun. We do not need to fight them down - we simply need to outlast them, and the sky has given us every reason to believe we will.

Drop beneath the panic, beneath the manifestos and the markets and the men who think they own the future, and listen for the steadier signal underneath. Tune to the part of us that already knows what’s coming - the part the seeing stones cannot see, and the part the old world cannot reach.

While the mind wonders how we will survive this, the heart remembers we were made for this. This is our time to rise, friends, and to anchor in the fullness of who we are. The old world is falling because it must, and the new one is coming because it always was - and we, the ones standing at the threshold, are the ones it has been waiting for.
