Back to the Future (1850's Remix): The Spiritual Sequel with Better Internet
Why today’s chaos feels familiar, and what the cosmos wants us to remember.
Hi friends,
You might be wondering why the image above appears to be Abraham Lincoln stepping out of a time machine and into the future…you’ll understand by the end of this…
I’ve always been fascinated by the patterns and cycles of history, because that’s really what mundane astrology is: reading the movement of the planets against the backdrop of human events. Sometimes, by looking back, we get the clearest vision of what lies ahead.
Right now, in 2025, we’re living through a moment that echoes the 1850s with eerie precision; a time when spirits spoke, telegraphs buzzed, and revolutions brewed beneath the surface. In many ways, we’re not just repeating history - we’re living its sequel.
The 1850s were a threshold: a liminal era of ghostly whispers, radical inventions, and deep societal unrest. And under a sky strikingly similar to theirs, we’re now being called to walk that same threshold again.
If you’ve felt the veil thinning, the systems cracking, or the strange sense that reality is bending at the edges, you're not wrong. The cosmos is cueing up a familiar tune. And we’re already dancing to it.
Let’s take a look back to the future….
The Spirits are Speaking Again
In the mid-1800s, dining rooms across America became portals. People gathered to talk to the dead, rapping on tables and scribbling messages from beyond. The Spiritualist movement had begun. It wasn’t fringe; it was fashionable. Mediums were celebrities. Séances were date nights. And suddenly, the invisible world felt very present.
Fast-forward to now: the mystical is having a modern renaissance. Astrology, energy healing, ancestral work, Akashic records, galactic guides - it’s not just trending, it’s returning. Neptune is back in Pisces, just like it was in the 1850s, dissolving boundaries between seen and unseen, science and spirit, logic and mystery.
What does it mean? We’re waking up again. Remembering again. And this time, we’re not just chatting with Grandma - we’re downloading blueprints from Sirius, decoding messages from the stars, and reconnecting with lineages that stretch far beyond Earth.
The Telegraph, TikTok, and Tech that Talks Back
In the 1850s, the telegraph changed everything. It was the first time information moved faster than a horse. Suddenly, you could send a message across the country in minutes. It was the original instant message, and it rewired the human brain.
Now? We’re in the next phase: AI, quantum computing, neural links, and algorithms that know your playlist before you do. With Uranus in Taurus, we’re seeing a revolution in how we communicate, what we value, and what “connection” even means.
Back then, we called it electricity.
Now, we call it energy.
The message hasn’t changed, just the medium.
Pluto and the Price of Power
In the 1850s, Pluto was in Taurus, shaking the foundations of economics, land ownership, and slavery. It was the prelude to civil war; a time when the very value of a human life was being debated in both policy and blood.
Now, with Uranus in Taurus and Pluto newly in Aquarius, we’re once again redefining worth: digital currencies, universal income, ownership of land, of data, of identity. Climate change is turning food, water, and shelter into political battlegrounds. The system is glitching. And Pluto whispers, let it.
Because just like then, something must end, so something new can begin.
What this Alignment asks of us
This alignment is like a cosmic test.
Will we cling to the structures that are cracking, or step into the unknown with vision, compassion, and something resembling grace?
Will we fight over the ruins of old empires, or build new temples rooted in truth, beauty, and innovation?
Will we keep channeling the dead, or remember that we, too, are ancestors in the making?
How the 1850s Responded to This Alignment
The last time the stars aligned like this, back in the 1850s when the old structures were collapsing, many clung. Hard.
The institutions of slavery, patriarchy, and empire were visibly cracking, but instead of surrendering to the unraveling, many doubled down.
In the United States, the South gripped slavery with white-knuckled desperation, even as abolitionists fanned the flames of conscience. Political leaders scrambled to hold the center with half-measures and compromises, trying to keep the illusion of unity alive. But the rot was already too deep.
The system was dying, and those in power chose to preserve the illusion of order instead of facing the truth.
Still, not everyone clung.
Visionaries, rebels, and spiritual seekers rose to meet the moment. Abolitionists spoke truth to power. Women began organizing for rights. Spiritualists cracked open the veil and called in wisdom from beyond. Reformers, scientists, and mystics alike reached for something more honest, more expansive, more humane.
The old world didn’t go quietly.
It cracked open, through war, blood, grief, and fire.
Eventually, the system did collapse.
But the cost of clinging made the fall so much harder.
What Rose From the Rubble?
Back in the 1850’s, collapse wasn’t the end - it was the clearing.
From the ashes of that broken system, something new began to emerge. Slavery was abolished. The seeds of civil rights were planted, even if they would take generations to grow. Women found their voices and gathered in ways that would eventually lead to suffrage, liberation, and social change.
New spiritual movements bloomed. Science leapt forward. New ways of thinking about the body, the mind, the soul, and society began to take root. It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t immediate. And much of what rose still carried the scars of what had fallen. But still, it rose.
Because when systems collapse, what’s revealed is potential.
Possibility.
A chance to choose differently.
The system that rose from the rubble of the 1850s is the one we’re watching crack now. And just like then, we’re being asked: What comes next?
So, What Does Comes Next For Us Now, According to the Stars
That’s the thing about the stars - they don’t predict exactly what’s going to happen next. Instead, they show us the prevailing energies, the currents we’re working with. They point out which way the wind is blowing, but it’s up to us to catch it in our sails.
The astrology of the coming years signals a time of radical transformation, not just of systems, but of consciousness itself.
Pluto in Aquarius (2023–2044): Revolution on the Horizon
This is the real game changer. This is revolution energy. Collective power. Innovation meets accountability. Pluto tears down what’s corrupt and outdated, making space for something radically new. In Aquarius, this means the collapse of rigid hierarchies, outdated institutions, and top-down power structures. The rise? Decentralized systems. Community-led solutions. Technology used for liberation, not control. A complete reimagining of society from the ground up.
What can we expect?
Political Revolutions: Governments may face major upheavals, with power shifting from traditional political elites to more grassroots, tech-driven movements. Look for significant protests and social movements demanding greater transparency and fairness in politics.
Tech Disruption: Expect an acceleration in technology that breaks down traditional systems. Decentralized technologies, like blockchain and crypto, will likely become more mainstream, challenging banking systems, corporations, and even national currencies.
Environmental Awakening: Radical new ways of managing resources will emerge, possibly leading to international collaborations aimed at combating climate change.
Neptune in Pisces (until 2026): Dissolving the Illusions
The illusions we’ve clung to, especially around spirituality, media, and escapism, will all start to dissolve. This is a global spiritual awakening. The veil is thinning, not to frighten us, but to invite us to remember who we really are: connected, intuitive, and far less separate than we’ve been led to believe.
What can we expect?
Mass Awakening: A surge in collective spirituality, including the rise of new-age practices, meditation, mindfulness, and alternative healing. Expect more people seeking a deeper connection to their intuition and the collective consciousness.
Media Transformation: Misinformation will become a focal point, and there may be major shifts in how information is shared. We might see a resurgence in independent media and a rejection of corporate-controlled narratives, as people seek more authentic, transparent sources of truth.
End of Escapism: The rise of more people questioning artificial realities (such as celebrity culture, social media "perfection," and mass entertainment). A cultural reset might begin as people seek genuine human connection and healing over distractions.
Uranus in Taurus (until 2026): Shaking the Foundations
Expect more disruption to the economy and climate, but also bursts of innovation: sustainable tech, digital currencies, new values. What we own matters less than what we share.
What can we expect?
Economic Disruption: We could see the collapse of traditional financial systems, with central banks facing a challenge from decentralized currencies like Bitcoin and government-backed digital currencies. The housing market, land ownership, and the global food supply may also face serious upheaval.
Climate Crisis: More climate-related catastrophes, from extreme weather events to crop failures. However, the urgency may lead to innovations in green technology, alternative energy sources, and sustainable living practices becoming more widely adopted.
New Economic Systems: By 2026, the rise of alternative economic models (like sharing economies, universal basic income, or crypto-backed systems) may start gaining serious traction as solutions to rising inequality and environmental degradation.
The Spark of a New Beginning (2026–2027)
By 2026–2027, we’ll see massive shifts as Saturn and Neptune both move into Aries, marking the end of an old dream and the spark of a new beginning. A time when action and imagination finally converge. The dreamers become the builders.
What can we expect?
Revolutionary New Leadership: New leaders, especially those with fresh, innovative ideas about how to tackle climate change, economic inequality, and international relations, could rise to prominence. The old guard may lose power to more dynamic, visionary figures.
Tech and Innovation Boom: Expect a major leap forward in innovation, as Aries pushes us to take bold action. New breakthroughs in AI, space exploration, and bioengineering might emerge, transforming industries.
Global Shifts: A new geopolitical order may start taking shape. Countries may move away from old alliances and form new coalitions centered around shared values of sustainability, technology, and social equity.
The Birth of a New Kind of Leadership
In the collapse of the 1850’s, new voices emerged who were visionaries, liberators, and paradigm-shifters.
Abraham Lincoln stepped onto the national stage, not with promises of power, but with a moral reckoning. (See, I told you the image at the top of this would make sense by the end)
Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth spoke truth so boldly, it shook the conscience of a nation.
Harriet Tubman risked everything to lead others to freedom, not through speeches, but action.
Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton laid the groundwork for women’s rights and social reform.
Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau invited a generation to return to nature, question authority, and live with spiritual integrity.
The Fox Sisters opened the floodgates of spiritual awakening.
Thoreau taught resistance.
Charles Darwin cracked open the cosmos.
These weren’t just leaders.
They were responders - to injustice, to spirit, to truth.
They didn’t cling.
They created.
Who will be our leaders this time around?
Who will speak with clarity when the fog thickens?
Who will lead not for power - but from purpose, from service, from soul?
And maybe the better question is:
Could it be you?
History doesn’t repeat, but it rhymes.
The 1850s were a time of seismic shifts. The old systems were crumbling, and something new was being born.
Now, it’s our turn. We’re standing at the edge of another great transformation, one where the familiar world we know is beginning to fall apart to make room for something better, something more aligned with the needs of today.
This is the future astrology points us toward:
A world less rooted in control, and more rooted in consciousness.
A system not based on dominance, but on dignity.
A collective not driven by fear, but fuelled by vision.
The stars don’t guarantee any of this.
They just offer the map.
The choice, as always, is ours.
This is our moment contribute to the reshaping of our world. It’s literally why we chose to be here, as humans, at this moment in time. Our individual roles might not be clear just yet, but history has a way of guiding us if we’re willing to listen.
So, take a moment today - five minutes, if that’s all you have.
Light a candle.
Or sit by a window.
Or place your feet on the earth.
Breathe in the knowing that you are living through history.
Not as a bystander, but as a thread in the weaving of what comes next.
Say silently or aloud:
“I release what no longer serves.
I honor the wisdom of the past.
And I commit to becoming a good ancestor.”
Let this be your compass as the old world shakes and the new one stirs. Not to escape what’s crumbling, but to help midwife what’s being born.
As you seek the stillness, tune in and listen.
What part are you here to play in this great remembering?
The answer is already within you.
Thank you, for the hope. I’m contemplating what this shift might look like in my community, county and the world, and not just for humans.
Beautifully said. Thank you.
