Privacy Policy

Last updated 21 October 2026

Substack’s Privacy Policy covers what Substack does with your details. This one covers the other side of it: what Wizard’s Watchtower keeps about you, why, who helps, and what you can ask for. If anything’s unclear, write to wiz@wizard-withwords.com and you’ll get a reply from a real person.

Who’s responsible

Wizard’s Watchtower is run by Wiz (Wizard Withwords) from Queensland, Australia, and Wiz is responsible for the details described here.

What’s kept

When you subscribe, Substack shares your name and email address, along with a record of your membership: free or paid, which tier, when you joined, and if you cancel, when and any reason you gave. If you’re in the Wizard’s Circle, you’ll also send your birth date, time and place, and anything you’d like considered for your Blueprint. If you send a gift to Keep the Watchtower Lit, Stripe passes on your name, email and any note you leave.

What it’s used for

Your details are used to deliver the Watchtower and your membership, keep a record of who’s reading and for how long, write your Blueprint and offer a Transit Report at renewal, answer you when you write, and send the occasional personal email about your membership or a new reading.

Who else helps

Substack runs the publication and sends each edition. Stripe handles payments, so your card details are never seen here. A customer-records service holds a copy of the subscriber list (names, emails and membership history) so memberships can be looked after and personal emails sent. Trusted service providers are used to hold emails and files, and to prepare readings.

Your email address may also be shared with Meta in scrambled (hashed) form. Meta matches it to existing Facebook and Instagram accounts so ads can be shown to readers, kept away from people who don’t need them, or used to find people with similar interests, and deletes the scrambled data once the match is done. Your birth details and anything you’ve shared about your life are never sent to Meta. To be left out of this matching, just email.

Most of these providers are in the United States, so your details leave Australia. They’re never sold.

How long it’s kept

Your details are kept while you’re subscribed and afterwards as a simple record of your membership history, so you’re welcomed back with your details on file, unless you ask for them to be deleted. Blueprint files are kept so future readings can build on them.

Emails

The Watchtower itself comes from Substack, and the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every edition works at any time. Now and then you may also get a personal email about your membership, your Blueprint or a new reading; reply to say you’d rather not, and they’ll stop.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of what’s held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask to be left out of Meta matching, or ask for all of it to be deleted. Write to wiz@wizard-withwords.com and you’ll hear back within 30 days. If you’re unhappy with the answer, readers in Australia can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), and readers elsewhere can contact the privacy regulator where they live.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too, and any change that matters will be shared in a post or email first.
