Wow. This one already literally landed a couple of hours ago in the first post I opened this morning -- "Life Chakras in Counseling" in the Spirit Grooves substack of Michael Erlewine. A totally new concept to me and sure struck home. Chiron living so close to my Sun in my natal chart has always felt like a curse -- what else do you call a core wound that can never be healed in this lifetime?
Dear one, I understand why it's felt that way, but I'd gently push back on the story that's grown up around your Chiron and your Sun being right alongside each other.
The whole "wound that never heals" thing comes from the Chiron myth about the immortal centaur who was struck by the poisoned arrow laced with venom for which there was no cure. So Chiron couldn’t die but he couldn’t be healed either, he just had to live with it, and that’s the bit of the myth that seems to speak loudest when people think of Chiron. But the myth doesn’t end there. Living with that wound is exactly what made him the teacher the heroes were sent to. Achilles, Jason, Asclepius (the actual god of medicine!) all learned at his feet, because he knew pain from the inside. And then he was released. Chiron offered up his immortality in exchange for Prometheus going free…..Zeus accepted, and Chiron was finally allowed to die, and Zeus set him among the stars. Wound, then wisdom, then release. Somewhere along the way the first act of his story became the bit we all remember and we sort of forgot the rest of it, which is actually the whole point of Chiron.
With Chiron sitting on the Sun, the tender spot lives right in the sense of self.....a person’s right to take up space, to be seen, to shine. The certainty that it's permanent, that it can't be mended in this lifetime, is literally the wound talking. That's what Sun–Chiron sounds like when we try to give it words.
I think healing, in Chiron's sense, means the thing stays tender but eventually stops running the show. It becomes the exact place where you can meet other people in theirs, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet that you already do that better than you give yourself credit for. That's the gift side of the Chiron-Sun placement.
Chiron got free in the end by letting go of immortality……by accepting he was allowed to be finite and imperfect. For someone with Chiron on the Sun, that usually translates to dropping the idea that you have to be whole before you're allowed to shine. You're allowed now. xx
Thank you for all you give
A pleasure, Annie. Thanks for reading and for being here. xx
I didn't understand what I was feeling last night, and all of a sudden this makes it crystal clear. 💖💝💖
Thank-you sky for clarity, as always!
Yes, onwards! 💖💝💖
