Wow. Very powerful description of my day. I spent much of the day compiling documents to share with a regulator who has been engaging with me in response to my complaint about one of our awful American health insurers. It was about speaking truth as effectively as I could, with an enough is enough vibe that felt utterly necessary. I feel calm as a result and have no idea whatsoever if this rather powerful person will help me in any significant way.
The dynamic is a particular series of actions that resonates with the current vibe that is so powerful at the moment. That is about being vulnerable in an institution or in the care of individuals whose job and duty it is to be helpful. And they choose to be abusive in one way or another, which is utterly shocking, unimaginable. It's then about pushing back, repeatedly, trying to hold them accountable, when so many others can't really be bothered.
I've done my part now. The ugliness is really seeing what I think so many are seeing now. So many people who are just there, even charged with helping somehow in a difficult, vulnerable situation, whatever that context of vulnerability may be - who do nothing. Just shrug. No commitment, no empathy, detached. Can't be bothered.
We will see what unfolds. Today it all had a flavor of --
> I let honesty sting briefly rather than ache for years.
> I close this month with nothing important unsaid.
Oh Nella, I felt all of this deeply, as I know that enough is enough feeling all too well. Our institutions, by and large, are not built to do right by the people, but to protect themselves from the people, and that's what we're seeing the truth of more and more these days. We have trusted these institutions to keep us safe, when all along, their primary interest has always been to keep themselves safe. That is frustrating to go up against, but you've done the right thing - you've anchored yourself in the truth and spoken from there. It is all you can do, and no matter the outcome, you have played your part. Onwards! xx
