And here I was thinking I could have framed this one better. Felt a bit scattered this week, like the ideas weren’t landing on the page the way I expected. It was frustrating, and then I thought “maybe they’re landing the way someone else needs to hear than more than how I would like them to be written.” Then I got out of the way and just let it happen. Sir Terry Pratchett beautifully captures the golem in ‘Feet of Clay’. Essentially, despite having his instructions removed, Dorfl the golem is able to reveal that “words in the heart can not be taken” before dying, and is rebaked with a voice. Literally, a phoenix.
He is instrumental in defeating the insane King Golem - through heart.
And is that not the message trying to push through here?
I wish I had better insight, but your words are heartening, as are those of others who have seeded these encouragements through so many mediums.
Oh, what a find! Pratchett got there first, as he so often did.....
A king golem stuffed with so many instructions that it goes mad is about as perfect a picture of the mind on overload as anyone could draw (Uranus in Gemini, anyone?). Then there's Dorfl with every word taken out of his head, still moving on what's written deeper down….that's the breath the golem was always missing. And then the kiln, the fire, and he comes back out with a voice.
Yes, that's the message pushing through. And that's plenty of insight you've brought to the table Lisa - thank you xx
