What an incredible post this is. All that history certainly helps make sense of what we’re witnessing now. I was utterly absorbed as I read this piece, seeing the interconnection and parallels across the centuries. Thank you as always for such an inspiring and informative read.
Thanks for reading! I was wondering if this one dragged on a bit long like a history lesson, so glad you found it gripping. I love looking for patterns and cycles in history! Today makes so much more sense when you see it as just one episode in a very long running series!
Well, you had a lot of ground to cover, and I found it fascinating to follow the cycles as they unfolded down the years. Yes, the reason it’s all happening makes total sense, even though the acts themselves make none at all. Good to know this is all coming to a head fairly soon.
By the way, John Calvin was such a weasel - he hated/feared the body, hated/feared women and hated/feared Nature. And believed his own wealth was ordained by God. What a horrible legacy we have dragged forward from the Puritans and Calvin! All that hatred and fear that must be faced. Thank you for holding up a story and path of reconciliation and healing.
Yes, so much of what we have dragged forward were things based in fear. And now, they are all rising for reckoning. We will learn to live in love, one way or another.
Thank you for telling the truth. Many of us have lived in this shadow as the feared or despised "other." These truths have been drowned out for so long because they are painful to admit, though many live them and they are part of their family / personal history. I wish this country can own up to these skeletons haunting this closet, and it's hard to have faith this can be done.
These skeletons live in the closet of most countries, sadly. And very few have found ways to fully own what happened in the past. It is painful to admit, you're right - it's an uncomfortable truth, and many fear what will happen if they admit their prosperity today came at the expense of others suffering. But that is the wound that's now rising for reckoning. Wild times ahead. We shall walk the path with love. xx
Liked 'we shall walk the path of love.' It reminds me, also, about the importance of transparency and then forgiveness. However, I've seen forgiveness should never become an end without truth or transparency.
I've had to flex the forgiveness muscle many times in my life and feel much more free because of it, but it always came with a truth of the matter (even if it was only my truth).
Forgiveness need not come only after the atonement of an aggressor. In many cases the aggressor never atones (we will be wait til hell freezes over for Trump to ever atone) so forgiveness is actually more about setting oneself free from the ramifications of the actions of others. Forgiveness is releasing the demand that the past should be different, and reclaiming your freedom to live unbound by it. That’s the path we must find a way to walk, refusing to be bound by the cruelty or callousness of others. For the Holocaust survivors, there was nothing that could undo the horrors the Nazis inflicted upon them - so many chose forgiveness as the only way to set themselves free. It’s a hard lesson - one we are all about to learn. 🥰
Thank you for this tour de force, dear Wizard. You expounded our original sin, our primal wound, our deepest shadow that many white people can't even see. And quite right -- we must transcend "us versus them" thinking, and begin to see in one another the beauty of Divinity.
Yes, this is the great challenge - no more us vs them. There are so many ways we seperate each other, but the way forward is in remembering our oneness.
Thanks for reading. This one was epic, and this is the edited down version! We are really just a small part of a long running saga - it’s fascinating when you see it all run together and you can connect all the dots through time!
Brilliant- and definitely not too long! If we forget our history, we’re going to repeat it. Just the other day I was thinking about what the story would be if the first ship here hadn’t been a group of puritans, but people looking for a new world. Imagine if the Native(First) Americans met them, and they acquiesced and said oh my gosh, thank you for letting us come onto your land. Could you teach us how to survive here? We have some really nifty things from Europe that might help you too….
‘Othering’ is so common. Once I trained my ear to hear people’s conversations and the way they describe people that are not like themselves I began to hear pronouns when Ppl described a culture or a group of people. When I heard theses- my ears opened wide. I just think it’s so pervasive that people don’t even think that it’s wrong when they say a particular culture is generalized as.” They are so… fill in the blank..” These days, I call it out and ask them what they mean by the pronouns. Not with anger, but just curiosity. Often times people are not even aware of this habit of perception. It’s pretty deep and instilled in our society.
I’m very happy about all this light on the planet because we’re looking at all of this.
And if quantum physics is correct, the act of looking at something will change it. Here’s to change and all the changemakers here among us!
Anna, I always enjoy your extensions to these writings. You always seem to add something to the conversation that I hadn't completely considered. What you said about how things could have been if the Native Americans had been respected, their stewardship of the land honored, and the European ways offered as a sign of peace.....imagine what could have been. I like to think that each time Pluto lands in Aquarius, we get a chance to try again and make it right and make it better.....and it seems we make some things better but not all. Maybe this time we will nail it??!!
Excellent post! It's been a little while since I've been constantly on this app but you broke down the history of this country and how it's still playing out today beautifully. Love is what is needed right now not more fear. I even caught myself a few times since the Charlie Kirk shooting happening wanting to go back and forth with some people but I stopped myself because it didn't feel right to keep fanning the flames. I've been working on my own nervous system regulation, being as grounded as possible, and doing more ancestor work because I realize this is where the answers lie not feeding the beast that is going on right now.
Your instinct is really spot on for this moment. There is no point at this stage in the back and forth and fanning the flames. The people who have decided to walk down the path of fear, hate and vengeance will find soon enough that there is nothing good down that road. Our task is to stabilise, offer an opposing energy of love amidst so much hate. It's not nothing. Right now, it is EVERYTHING.
Thank you for this masterful history lesson explaining so many things about this time we are living in. I will do everything I can to lean into love ❤️ many blessings of love for you as we receive your writings and messages showing us the way...
It is a daily challenge. The pull into fear and hate is so strong. We must train ourselves into love, make it our practice, our north star, our guiding principle. In all things, love. That is the way forward.
This article was an absolute powerhouse! I remember as a young girl I used to wonder what made America so great, and if other great nations fell from the top, then when would the US face it's own fall? I just never thought that I would witness America's existential crisis. But your history lesson offers hope for us all. Thank you for reminding us what we can do to change the pattern.
Like most "great" nations, America was never truly great in every way we might have hoped or imagined, but it was always aspiring to greatness, while saying that it was. Americans crowing that America was the greatest country in the world were not saying that because they had tried other countries out and found the statement to be true - it was always chest beating, not entirely based on truth, but more on a statement they wished to be true, that they hoped could be true, and that they wanted the rest of the world to believe was true. And now we see what comes after that kind of hubris. In this era of truth revealed, that myth won't hold anymore.
