I think we've already glimpsed the new systems being built ...I'm thinking of the Twin Cities during Metro Surge in particular. People taking kids to school, shopping for neighbors afraid to leave their houses, raising money to pay rent...so many examples of helping each other. (Teri Leigh documents the movement on Substack.) I'm also privileged to know of a small town organization started by a small group of neighbors that now is an umbrella organization in a county of half a million people...it helps thousands of residents with food, clothing, legal advice, and much more. The majority of their work is done by volunteers, including a weekly supper open to anyone in the community, rich or poor....meals are provided primarily by community business and church groups. Since starting as a small group of neighbors 19 years ago, Sunshine Place in Sun Prairie is a community resource hub. (They have a website.) I see a future for everyone.
Yes, Linda, to all of that! The new world is not ahead of us, it’s here now, showing up in so many ways. Now we just wait for the old world to come down to make some space for these things to really bloom. All of this is the new world rising - we don’t have to wait for it. It’s already here.
I so appreciate your weekly wisdom and it does give me hope. The constant barrage of chaos is overwhelming my anxiety which is exactly as they intended. I am not in the center of the evil like LA, Chicago, and Minnesota and basically living my life as I have been except for the financial impact yet at 70, I fear I won’t last the decades required to see the new world but I am embracing grounding myself in new thought and heart. Thank you for showing us the light in the darkness.
Hang in there Catherine. The sky is reminding us our work is not on the big picture but the smaller one. Tending to what we can in our own communities, our own neighbourhoods, our own homes. It’s not about attaining the perfect world - it’s about reaching for it, day by day. 🥰
Fascinating about the demise of democracy being an issue of scale. My husband and I were traveling in Uruguay last month, and our guide said, "The problem with the US is that it's too big." Normally I'd brush comments like that off, but it stuck with me this time. How every (smaller) country we've traveled to has fresher food, fewer processed foods, fewer chemicals in health and beauty products, more reliable public transportation...not to mention a government that may actually run more efficiently. I'm curious to see what the future holds. Your writings about our minds not being able to hold a vision for the future because it is beyond our current knowing is a bit unsettling...but it also brings me hope.
It’s only unsettling because we are so used to letting the mind lead. This next era is led by the heart and the blueprint for what comes next is not one we are going to think our way through, but feel our way through. It doesn’t make sense, in the traditional sense, because it’s not supposed to. What looks like chaos to the mind looks like opportunity to the heart.
It was happy to see Wiz point this out; a successful strategy implemented by the right to put Democrats in a downward spiral by corrupting themselves to survive in a broken system. Citizens United did exactly that. I remember President Obama during a State of the Union address, shaming the Supreme Court for their United Citizens decision, saying it reversed a century of law opening the floodgates for special interests. Obama was heavily critized for the audacity of stating the truth in the presence of the Supreme Court.
"Republicans have spent decades building a machine designed to make Democratic resistance impossible without Democratic complicity, and that machine is now operational. The Democrats can refuse to use it and lose, or they can use it and win and discover, somewhere on the other side, that they have become the thing they were elected to defeat. Neither of these options preserves what the party claims to stand for. The trap is the trap because the system itself is the problem."
Yes Obama saw it, and in many ways tried to call it out, whilst also helping it along. It’s an excellent system in theory, but it has become so corrupted now, trying to save it seems to only aid further corruption. The sky is calling us not to worry about the big thing but tend to the small thing - the big thing will do what it’s going to do as it tears itself apart. Our work is in the small. That’s where the new world will bloom.
Thank you, Wiz. I so appreciate your brilliant insight. It is hard to believe in this time in America. This piece helped in my journey towards letting go of what isn't working. I do have a loving community, but do suffer with all those who are being abused by the current administration. The hardest part is feeling as though nothing I do has any, even minimal, effect on the current destruction of human beings, as well as material structures and systems. It bruises the heart to witness the inhumanity.
It’s terribly hard to see so much wrong in the world and feel helpless to do anything about it. But none of us is tasked with solving all the worlds problems solo - all we can do is what we can do on our little patch of grass in the world. Small things matter, and they make a difference. And the sky more than ever is waking each of us now to tend to those small things. Let the big stuff be - it’s crashing out all by itself - and just focus on what can be done in and around your own home to live from the heart. ❤️
You help me laugh, learn and believe we are all meant to be here for this, the greatest change ever, for civilization and consciousness. Sunday morning with Wiz. Onward, as you say.
Wiz, this piece is absolutely brilliant. Thank you for bringing so much clarity, wisdom and incredible historical perspective to us. I echo all the other comments in that you give hope and understanding…and hope again. And now on to your Monday piece ❤️
Again another Sunday Wow!! Your words remind me of a knowing I already have but have forgotten. They remain in the seeds, let’s get to the planting, and the tending.
Thank you Wizard! There many wonderful poets and writers including you that will remembered and their work reflected on. One I'll mention is Robert Arnold.
Each week that goes by I take in less & less news waiting for your weekly wrap up. There's still a few independent journalists I check in on. However, Sundays are special on your page. 💜
Liked "The system is failing because it was never designed for the scale it’s now being asked to operate at."
I pray we Yanks have the fortitude and commitment to build anew. I hope we can overcome our cultural clannish allegiances and ways of exclusion to start new. I pray we can. It is all hands on deck if we want to get through this!
Thanks, Wis' -- I spelled it that way intentionately because Wizard and Wisdom presumably are from the same root, and you've got it all covered. Also, pronounced the same, in my mind at least.

Dear Catherine, never doubt your importance No matter what you are able to do or not. We each have an energetic impact…❤️

“It bruises the humanity” yes. Perfectly described.
You help me laugh, learn and believe we are all meant to be here for this, the greatest change ever, for civilization and consciousness. Sunday morning with Wiz. Onward, as you say.
I love the way we all get to gather on Sunday to read what the sky is saying! Thanks for reading, Darlene, as always!
The best Sunday reading! And the best weekly compilation of news, with an excellent, “telescopic” view!
Wiz, this piece is absolutely brilliant. Thank you for bringing so much clarity, wisdom and incredible historical perspective to us. I echo all the other comments in that you give hope and understanding…and hope again. And now on to your Monday piece ❤️
Glad it landed for you Linda!

Thank-you Rose. I’m very pleased to offer words that are of service in this way. Thank-you for reading. xx
No words, dear Wiz. Absolute perfection. Rings so true.

“Oh do you think he was referring to you?” Is probably the line of the year…
