This letter comes from the year 2126 - one hundred years beyond the collapse we’re living through now. It’s a field transmission from a future described clearly in the stars, mapped in the deep geometry of the cosmos and etched in the planetary alignments.
This letter (and all the others in the Letters from the New Earth series) is an invitation from the future we can create, if we choose, from the one already humming in the bones of the present, waiting to be claimed by those willing to listen.
This is the seventh letter in the series, and it tells the story of faith from the years we’re living through now to the century beyond them: why it has to burn before it can come home, why the years hardest to watch are the ones that matter most, and how what we do with our hearts right now becomes the faith our great-grandchildren live by.
It’s for anyone who’s watched God’s name stitched onto flags and painted onto bombs and felt something in them recoil. For those who still pray and are ashamed of what’s being done in their name, for those who’ve been afraid to walk into their own house of prayer, and for those who walked away from religion long ago and wonder why it still has the world in its grip.
This is for all who have ears to hear….
A Message from the Future
Written in October, 2126
To the humans of 2026 - the Bridgekeepers, the Gridholders, the Soul Anchors.
Dear Ancestors,
We know that right now, in 2026, you’re watching the holiest words in the world being used to do the cruellest things.
You’ve watched the cross wrapped in a flag, and the name of Jesus used to turn away the very stranger he told his followers to take in. You’ve watched scripture about a promised land quoted over the children of Gaza as they were pulled from the rubble, in a war so many of you were calling a genocide. You’ve watched the files open, one after another, on children harmed in the care of the churches, and on the bishops who quietly moved the abusers from parish to parish.
You’ve watched girls barred from school in God’s name in Afghanistan, neighbours turned against each other’s gods in India, and monks preaching hatred of the Rohingya in Myanmar. You’ve watched people attacked in their own synagogues and mosques, churches and temples, until praying meant keeping one eye on the door.
And so many of you have come to the hardest conclusion of all, that religion itself is the wound, and the kindest thing the future could do is leave it behind.
We speak often of this time - it’s circled in our history books. We’ve read what you wrote in those years, the prayers and the arguments and the messages you sent each other in the middle of the night, and we keep them in our remembrance sanctuaries, where our children read them still. In so many of them, you were holding your longing with nowhere safe to set it down. And underneath them all sits the same question, the one you may be too afraid to ask out loud….does any of this mean anything?
Let this letter be your answer.
Yes, beloved ones.
It means everything.
From your courage grew the bones of our world.
What you’re watching is the last stand of the God the mind built. A God of borders and flags, of chosen sides and punishments, made in the image of our fear and carried into battle for thousands of years. Everything ever done in that God’s name is coming into the light at once, and from where you’re standing, it looks like the end of the sacred.
From where we’re standing, it’s the beginning.
Faith turns like this once in five hundred years. The last time, Europe burned for a century over how to pray, and from the ashes came the first fragile promise that people might worship as they chose. Now the wheel has come round again, and of all the generations who ever lived, you’re the ones who came to stand at the turning. The world we live in now could never have bloomed without you, the ones standing right at the hinge.
So many of you are waiting for an election to bring the old days back, for the right leader to set it all straight again. Beloved ones, the old days have gone, and what’s coming is so much bigger.
An age is closing.
Another is being born.
And it’s being born through you.
The One you’ve been reaching for, by whatever name you call it, is waiting on the other side of all of it…..closer than you’ve ever been told.
Let us tell it to you the way we tell it to our children, by the fire.
When the Wall Came Down
It began with fire.
In the February of your 2026, at the Genesis Reset, the wall between the mind and the heart came down, and everything it had been holding back came pouring through: all the truth, and all the feeling that comes with truth. And among it, at last, was the truth about what had been done in God’s name….in the wars and the parliaments, in the orphanages and the confessionals, in the quiet rooms where children weren’t believed.
Close behind it came the oldest fear there is: that we’re alone in a cold universe, and no one is listening.
That fear wore a hundred faces. Some held their faith up like a shield, and some swung it like a sword. Holy books were brandished in parliaments, prayers were said over bombs, and the young walked out of the pews in their millions and kept on walking.
America wrapped the cross in her flag and used it to bolt the very doors she’d been founded to open, and half of her watched the other half in horror, and both halves were afraid: one of a country changing faster than they could bear, the other of a country turning cruel.
On the other side of the world, the same fire burned the other way. In Iran, faith had been the law for nearly fifty years, and in the winter of 2026, her people rose in their millions, the greatest uprising since the revolution that made it so, to end rule in God’s name. They were met with bullets, and thousands never came home. And from then on, the grip of the old law began to slip.
One country reached to write God into her laws, while another rose to write God out of them. And nation after nation took one road or the other: some reaching for God to hold the old world in place, others rising to pry God loose from the hands of the powerful. Wherever faith and power had been tangled together, the same fire found them, and nowhere on Earth stood still.
We hold all of it gently now, and we excuse none of it. The ones who shouted God’s name the loudest were the ones most terrified of losing what it had given them: the certainty, the power, the comfort of knowing God was on their side. The cruelty you watched was that terror, dressed in holy clothes. It still had to be answered for, and it was.
And from here we can see it for what it was all along….one fear, seen from different sides of the fire.
The Night the River Rose
And then, in the middle of the burning, the faithful turned around.
A Christian woman stood on the steps of her own church and read the words of Jesus back to the men using his name: I was a stranger, and you took me in. Jews marched in their thousands under banners that said not in our name, and wept for Gaza‘s children as their own. An imam stood all night outside a synagogue so the people inside could pray, and the next Friday, the rabbi stood outside his mosque. The survivors of the churches told their stories, and told them again, until the world had no choice but to believe them. A bishop stood in her own cathedral and asked a president, to his face, for mercy on the frightened.
One act of courage at a time, the people took God back.
Every one of them was laying a stone of our world, and most of them never knew it.
Every child here knows the story of the night the river rose, and a priest walked down to his church in the rain, turned his key in the lock, and opened the doors to anyone with nowhere left to go. It happened again in a hundred thousand halls and courtyards after that, all through the 2030s, as the floods and the fires and the failing systems pressed in, and the faithful did what faith had always done best.
They opened the doors.
Churches became shelters.
Mosques became clinics.
Synagogues became the places where the frightened slept.
Temples the places where the hungry ate.
And the Sikhs, who’d kept a free kitchen in every gurdwara for five hundred years, where anyone at all could sit on the floor beside anyone else and be fed, became the teachers of the world.
Faith that had spent centuries arguing about God started cooking for people, and the strangest thing happened….the arguments grew quiet. Faith came to be measured by whose door was open, and the ones still swinging God like a sword found fewer and fewer people listening.
Emptying, Everywhere at Once
Then came the Emptying, and it came like water.
Through the 2040s, the great institutions of religion let go of the power they’d held for thousands of years….over law, over money, over armies, over who could marry whom and who could be buried where. The last of the hidden harms rose into the light, and the old hierarchies folded. When it was over, no government on Earth could send its soldiers to war in God’s name and find anyone left willing to march.
Something real was lost too, and the faithful grieved it. For a decade the great buildings stood quiet, their bells still, and we keep their memory in our remembrance sanctuaries.
And then, in all that quiet, someone noticed the prayers were still going, not in the old halls and cathedrals, but in homes and hospitals, forests and kitchens, in words whispered by nurses and sung in lullabies by mothers. Faith had poured out of its containers the way water does, and run everywhere at once.
Even the oldest fires that burned between nations began to cool.
Israel and Palestine were born under suns on opposite sides of the sky, like two people sitting across the same fire, each one carrying a wound. Israel carried the wound the whole world had dealt her. Palestine carried the home she’d lost, and the keys she still kept. Each was afraid, with every reason, of being erased, and in your time that fear burned hotter than it ever had: Israel‘s grief from the day her worst fear came true, the children of Gaza beneath the rubble, and on every side, people claiming the land in God’s name.
Then, in 2048, the same slow tide reached them both in the same season, and for two years the old certainties softened on both sides of the fire at once. Neither had to go first.
By the time the Emptying was done, people had learned to feel one another the way the old mystics said they felt God. When the mind’s wall came down, the heart had been waiting behind it: the deepest part of each of us, connected to something far bigger than ourselves, and through it, to every other soul on Earth. As the old fear faded, it woke….slowly at first, and then all at once.
The grief of one village could be felt in the next valley, and the next, until whole continents sat with it together. And the old words came back on their own….communion, sangha, ummah, minyan….every tradition’s name for the gathered faithful, stretched now to hold the whole human family.
That’s what we now call prayer.
An Extra Place at the Table
And then, when your children were grown, the Guests came.
It happened on a single night in the early 2060s. Millions of people, all over the world, felt it at once, through the same quiet field where we’d learned to feel each other. Someone was reaching back to us: others, older than we are, from somewhere beyond our world. They spoke in feeling, and when people tried to put that feeling into words, it came out almost the same in every language.
We have always been here.
You just were not ready to hear.
Even now, we can’t tell you exactly who they are. We don’t know their true names, or where they first came from, or whether they live in bodies the way we do. What we know is that they’re old, that they’d been near us far longer than we’d ever imagined, and that they’d been waiting for us to grow quiet enough to hear them.
The oldest fear, that we were alone, ended that night, and in its place rose another: that we’d never been the centre of anything at all. It shook every faith on Earth, and it shook the ones who believed only in what could be measured just as hard. Some fell to their knees. Some barred their doors. Some said it proved God was only a story, and some said it proved God had sent them. So many of the old stories had put us at the centre of creation, with a God who’d made it all for us, and every claim to own God cracked open at once. For four years the whole world trembled, and neighbour turned on neighbour again, the way they once had over how to pray.
We came close, beloved ones.
We came so close.
And then the faithful went back to their oldest teachings, and found that every tradition had left them the same instruction for a night like this one: welcome the stranger at the door.
Abraham had kept his tent open on all four sides, so no traveller would ever have to search for the way in. The letter to the Hebrews had whispered that some had entertained angels without knowing it. In Iran, where families still opened Hafez on the longest night of the year for guidance, the poets had spent seven hundred years writing to an unseen Beloved, and they gave the world its first words for a presence that spoke only in feeling. And in India they’d been saying it for thousands of years: the guest is God.
The old teachings told them what to do, and you’d already shown them how. Some of you were still there, grey-haired by then, and you remembered standing on church steps in the 2020s, reading I was a stranger, and you took me in to the people closing the borders. You’d been rehearsing for that night your whole lives.
So all over the world, families did the oldest holy thing they knew.
They set an extra place at the table.
That’s why we still call them the Guests.
The One True Thing
In 2065, faith came home to where it had always lived: inside each of us.
It came home to the kitchen table and the family altar, to the Sabbath candles and the Friday meal, the evening prayer and the grace said over bread. It came home to people who’d never prayed in their lives, who found themselves one quiet evening saying thank you to the sky. Each of us met the sacred directly now, with nobody standing in between, and our elders began to say plainly what your teachers had been saying for thousands of years.
The mind is our humanity, the part of us that names and sorts the world.
The heart is our divinity, the part of us that knows we were never alone.
Your scriptures knew it all along.
The kingdom of God is within you.
Wherever you turn, there is the face of God.
That of God in every one.
Thou art That.
America came home in the 2070s, to her porches and her kitchens. Her crucible had come in the years the world trembled, when the dream she was founded on was turned over from the roots up, and in the turning she remembered the oldest promise in her founding papers: every faith could live under her roof, and none would rule it. Now she keeps the doors. Every tradition on Earth has a house in her, and so do those who keep none at all.
And one by one, the rest of the world came home too, each nation in her own season. Those that had reached to write God into their laws and those that had risen to write God out of them found their way to the same place in the end: the sacred lifted out of their courts and parliaments, and alive again at their people’s tables.
In most homes now, at dusk, a family gathers by the fire. Each person tells one true thing from their day, the hardest one, and the others simply stay.
Some call it keeping the hearth.
To you, we imagine, it would sound like prayer.
The Song and the Key
The late 2080s brought the time our history books call the Concord, an old word that means “hearts together.”
It began with a song, in the same years the last warhead was melted down in the Peace Grove. India had always kept a thousand paths to the divine under one roof, and yet her neighbours had been set against each other’s prayers since the year she was born. And at last she remembered the oldest song she knew: Truth is one, and the wise call it by many names.
Now she’s where the world goes to learn how many names the One can hold. Stand on the ghats of Varanasi at dawn and you’ll hear it: temple bells, the call to prayer, the hymns of the gurdwara, all rising into the same morning air, and the river carrying every one of them.
And the song carried, all the way to Jerusalem.
Your grandchildren were there the autumn she finally made her peace, when the keepers of every faith that holds her holy came together in the old city that had been fought over for three thousand years, and agreed that holy places belong to whoever comes to pray.
Some of them were the grandchildren of the imam and the rabbi who’d stood guard outside each other’s doors in your time. They’d grown up on that story. They’d asked for it at bedtime.
They took as their model a key. For more than eight hundred years, a Muslim family had kept the key to one of Christianity’s holiest churches, and every morning at dawn they’d opened its great door for pilgrims who prayed differently from them. And over the gates of the city they carved words older still, from the prophet Isaiah:
My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
Israel and Palestine keep the holy places together now, and their children grow up knowing each other’s prayers by heart.
The Light and the Bridgekeepers
And so now, in our time, no one here rules in God’s name, or fights in God’s name, or tells anyone else how to pray. We’re not less spiritual, just far less religious.
The old traditions came through the fire, and they’re more alive than they’ve been in centuries. The call to prayer still rises at dawn. The Hanukkah lights still go in the window, and the Diwali lamps still line the doorsteps. Hymns still fill the cathedrals on Sunday mornings, the fasts are still kept, and the scriptures are still read aloud and argued over with love. What fell away was the fear in them, and the walls the fear had built.
The great traditions belong to everyone now, the way great music does. Their songs and stories, their feasts and fasts and silences, are open to anyone who wants to walk in, and everyone’s free to walk out again. Some of us keep one tradition our whole lives. Some keep several. Some keep none, and sit at the same hearth as everyone else.
The cathedrals and mosques, the synagogues, temples and gurdwaras of your time still stand, their doors open day and night. The grandest became remembrance sanctuaries, where we keep the memory of everything once done in God’s name, so it’s never forgotten. And in every one of them, a place is still set for the Guests.
Before our children come of age, they sit in silence in a house of every faith in their region, and just listen. Then they come home and tell the hearth what they heard.
At the turning of each season, the whole Earth keeps a minute of silence together, and the field goes so still you can feel the planet listening.
We still argue….about the Guests, about what lives in the field, about what waits for us when we die. Our own sky is pressing on us these years, and our young are asking questions that unsettle their elders’ answers. We’re learning to let them. Doubt sits at our hearths now, right beside wonder, and the same fire warms them both.
Amidst all of it, the oldest words turned out to be the truest.
Holy, whole and heal all grow from the same ancient root.
To be holy was always to be whole.
We’re still learning what that means, every day.
And every day, as we learn, we think of you.
You, our ancestors who refused to let God be used as a weapon in those early years. The survivors who told the truth about what was done to them in the churches, and kept telling it until the world listened. The pastor who preached against the flag-wrapped cross and lost half his congregation for it. The Jewish grandmother standing in the street for Gaza‘s children. The imam outside the synagogue, and the rabbi outside the mosque. The priest with his keys in the rain, the night the river rose. The strangers who linked arms around another faith’s house while its people prayed inside.
And the quiet ones….the unbeliever who held a dying believer’s hand while she prayed, and said amen at the end. The believer who loved a doubting child without a single condition. The ones who prayed for the people who hated them, and meant it.
We call you the Bridgekeepers, because that’s what you were. You held the bridge through the worst of the storm so the rest of us could cross, and most of you never reached the other side. Very few of you lived to see the Concord. Most of you never sat at a hearth like ours. You planted it all anyway, and we live in the shade of what you planted.
And you - yes, you, reading this in 2026 - still refusing to hate, still telling the truth, still lighting the candle or sitting with the question, even on the nights you’re not sure anyone’s listening…..
That’s what made the difference.
That’s what sent the signal.
That’s what turned the wheel.
And on those nights, beloved ones, someone was listening.
We were.
We, and so much more than us.
So if you’re reading this in 2026, wondering what you can possibly do in the days ahead, as it feels like your world is burning, know that this burning is not an end but a beginning. What you do now makes the way for what is to come. Without you, there is no us, and so your choices now matter.
And of all those choices, we’d ask only one thing of you.
Hold your heart open, even as the world burns.
Every part of you will want to close it: to harden, to look away, to hate the ones holding the matches, but hold it open anyway. Open to the grief, open to the frightened millions standing behind the fury, open to the neighbour whose prayers sound nothing like your own. An open heart in a burning world is a lamp in the dark, and every one of you who keeps yours open lights the way a little further for everyone who comes after you.
That’s how we found our way here, beloved ones.
We followed your light.
You light the way every time you refuse to hate a whole people for what’s done in their name, and every time you tell the truth about what was done. You choose this future every time you stand beside a neighbour whose faith is being blamed and every time you find the holy in something ordinary.
That’s the way from there to here.
We are because you were.
And we thank you, every single day.
With reverence,
With resonance,
With all our future breath,
And with all our love…
Your descendants,
in the future you made possible…

My intention in my writing is to lessen the climate of fear around world events by offering clarity and cosmic context for what’s unfolding; to bring context to the chaos. I believe our highest calling right now is to anchor in the vibration of love & truth and call in a more beautiful world, and to do that, we must learn to live beyond fear. I hope you read this with an open, uplifted heart.
I have had a vision in a past life meditation that I was an elder woman in a clay hut with a smoke hole through the roof and I was the village Firekeeper. I was responsible for keeping a community fire going, making coals available to anyone whose fire went out. I also saw that my son in my current life was responsible in that lifetime for bringing me firewood. I love imagining the community hearth in a future lifetime. In a future lifetime what would I want to envision myself doing in this life? Thank you for this vision and motivation. Keep the fire burning.
This resonates deeply. Thank you 🙏
